Q: How much weight can it support?

I'm not quite sure, I'm not the owner of the company. I just know it didn't support me that well and I'm 165lbs. It's so uncomfortable! I don't own one anymore!

Q: how do I adjust the back down further from 90 degrees?

Fold it completely forward in half then all the way flat. Slowly move upward from the flat position. Each click is a position. 5 clicks and it's back to 90 degree.

Q: When I try to lean back in my chair it falls backward, is there a locking mechanism I am missing or is it defective?

It probably is defective even after you try fold it close and then open yet it falls backward.

Q: Is this durable enough for the beach?

I would not recommend taking this chair to the beach.
