Yes, it's light - because the walls of the post tube are very thin.
One of the reasons for acquiring an extra-long seat post is to allow adequate seat height for a tall rider on a frame with a short seat tube, as some designs often have. This requires having a long section of the post that's above the frame, creating a lever effect creating substantial bending force on the post when the rider is perched on the saddle, and even more bending force when the bike hits a bump with the rider seated. Most seat posts are fairly beefy to account for the fact that this occurs - and the longer the post, the more that such a safety margin in strength is needed. This is a very long post at 450mm, but it's one of the thinnest I have encountered. I'll use it, because in this instance the rider of the bike is light, but I would not be OK fitting this post on a bike where the rider weighs 200+ and the seat post projection is more than about eight inches.

Works well, is quite light and sturdy (I'm 240 and have it at its maximum extension)
