My background -- as a business we have made 3 small purchases on Alibaba, it was our hope with this book to get one or two suggestions that would help us along the purchasing process on Alibaba, which can be daunting.The majority of the book discusses the background and inception of Alibaba. While interesting, it does not add a great deal to the issue at hand -- "insider tips and tricks". There is no new information, just stop by the Alibaba forums and get all the information you need there, in fact the authors makes the suggestion to go to the forums to get information.The book even spends time telling you how to set up an account. If you need someone to show you step by step how to sign-up and join a website, well then this book is for you. Although if you need that much help, my suggestion would be to steer clear of international trade.This book is soooo not worth it's hefty price. Wish I could get a full refund!

This really is a great book. It gives you a great overview of the site, what to look for and what questions to ask when looking for products and suppliers, and it includes feedback and interviews with business owners who have been successful and maybe not so successful on the site. It does warn you of the risks of international business and gives you steps to take to minimize the risk. I highly recommend the book.

I bought the book as a beginner, although the subject if not that new to me. The book is nicely written, easy to read. Yes, there are chapters that are a little extra, but it helps to know the whole philosophy and story i enjoyed it. Certainly you can find this info on some webpages, even on youtube videos, however i would still recomend this book, as it has everything neatly organised. I found the tips helpfull. a good choice for someone starting out with alibaba, worth the price in my opinion.

I really enjoyed reading about the history of the founders of Alibaba, but there is too much in this book about the history of the company, a conversation with the founder, the values of the company, Alibaba's corporate structure, stories of successful business people who use Alibaba. Then it tells you to get a TAX ID and tells you how to do that in your state. Then it talks about going to Amazon and Ebay for product ideas. Then the book talks about writing a business plan. All of this comes before the authors really begin to talk about how to use Alibaba.Then when they get into tips about doing business overseas, they give tips like, "you'll be doing business with people in another time zone." Not exactly and "Insider tip."This is a business book that includes info on Alibaba. Not a book about how to successfully use Alibaba. I'm not saying there isn't a lot of info on Alibaba in the book. There is. But if you have business experience, you'll have to cull through a lot of irrelevant info to get to the nuggets of help.

this is a great reference for a business to business selling of products from other countries . I takes you by the hand and takes you step bystep what you need to do ,and how to watch out for all the pit falls

this guide answered every question we had; we were afraid to venture onto alibaba until reading this book. i would recommend it to anyone who has ever considered doing business on alibaba; this book can help you decide if alibaba has something for you.

I read the book cover to cover and in my honest opinion the book felt more like an Alibaba advertisement book. All they do is praise the website and they barely even make mention of the ridiculous amount of scams and fake products on that site. They have small sections where they might say a negative thing or two but before you know it they're quick to praise alibaba once again.They cast the site as sunshine and rainbows but I would say 50% of this book is useless propaganda, 30% is instructing you on useless nonsense you could already learn on your own and the other 20% is actually something worth reading.Here's a pro tip, if you really want to learn about alibaba; read this e-book:  Alibaba Fraud Report It gives you the background on the culture of alibaba and how to avoid scams while also teaching you a thing or two about how to make a profit on there.

It's not worthy

The book is very old, most of the info are not updated. Can be useful for private people willing to know better alibaba system, it's a total waste of time if you are in the business.

Nice infos, good for starters in e-commerce. I can absolutely recommend. Even though the focus is too much on China. South America would also be important

Is too "official" but is very useful. You can learn a lot about Alibaba with this book. Is easy to read.

I have been searching on Alibaba for over a year now and am nervous about buying stuff overseas... This is a huge help as to how to protect yourself. Also things I never would have thought about and could have potentially cost me a lot of money. It will help me make purchases on Alibaba with less worry and more confidence. Thank You!
