Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff Distortion Pedal

It's a muff for bass
Firstly bass isn't my primary instrument and I've only used this into a DAW through my amp. So I am not perhaps achieveing the full sonic capabilities of this pedal. Designed for bass so it definitely produces a more useable tone than I could squeeze out of my guitars big muff pi delux, but personally I don't detect much, actually none , variation between the three modes so that's a big dissapointment. It was my understanding the dry mode would allow some tonal shaping without the fuzz but alas no. Maybe I'm just not a fan of muff's in general I'm not really that taken with any I own, don't know why I keep buying them lol.

Absolutely Amazing!
When I purchased this product I expected a simple distortion for bass because I felt that gain on the bass amps were not affective enough. When I recieved the product I was astonished to find out how brilliant it really was because of the versatilaty it brings when using it.The Muff Pedal has a great sounding distortion and 3 simple knobs: Volume, Tone and Sustain(Gain). But what make the Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff so unique and affective is that it has a switch, which can choose between 3 amazing modes: "Norm"(For a great sounding standard bass distortion), "Bassboost"(Which sends a strong signal to cause the distortion to become very powerful) and my favourite "Dry"(Which is the Norm distortion that has a clean sound going through it. It it very unique and great sounding, as it highlights what the bass is playing. This means it is hard to get drowned out by other instruments such as the drums and guitar, so it perfect for using whilst jamming in a band or on stage).

Hmmm pi
Why always asking about the thickness? It's as thick as you want and equally as versatile, good fuzz, lots of fun and battery life, makes everything I play sound stoned.

Great sound
I found this to be just perfect to add a bit of something extra to my bass sound - you have quite a lot of control, and the circuit really is optimised for bass, you have great tone even right down at the lowest notes.

ehx big muff (bass)
this is the second of these i have owned. foolishly i sold the 1st. i use it to emulate the sound of geddy lee from the rockband "rush". although geddy himself doesnt use these, he uses a far more expensive sansamp tech21 preamp. however, in my home studio with my geddy lee signature fender jazz bass, i find the ehx unit quite adequate and far less expensive.
