Essential Kidney Disease Cookbook is a great read!
Over the past few years I have had suffered from renal kidney failure and have chronic affects that have caused me to seek a healthier lifestyle. Upon receiving the Essential Kidney Disease Cookbook, I immediately started reading it. The book in the beggining is great for educating an individual in the different types of kidney disease. I found the beginning of this book extremely insightful. It goes in to breakdown recipes for different types of lifestyles, breakfast, lunch, dinner and more. The book describes what things are good for the kidneys and what you should avoid. This book in my opinion would be a viable asset not only for someone with kidney disease but also for someone interested in proactive kidney health, or as a gift.** I have received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. **

Cookbook for Healthier family
I've been on the lookout for healthier, real food cookbooks. Life debilitating diseases runs on both sides of my family along with my extended family. I wanted to start eating more healthy for myself and my children. So this cookbook is it for us as a good preventative cookbook. But it's more than that in the beginning the authors go over what kidney disease is, what the symptoms are , and some of the food to eat and to avoid. The recipes are simple, fast, and delicious. There are tons of chicken recipes. And other recipes with meat. There's a vegetarian section but there's not a whole lot of recipes that is meat. Having more vegetarian recipes would be my one suggestion.I recieved this book free in exchange for my honest, unbiased review

and easy recipes that go along with the diet you should ...
Just started reading this book but so helpful cause they explain the different stages of kidney disease, what you should be eating and not eating, and easy recipes that go along with the diet you should be on. Having kidney disease can be scary but reading this book makes it an easier transition into the new diet and gives you answers to what you can be doing to better your eating habits. Very encouraging and a really good tool if you are just starting and need answers.

Lots of good information as well as easy to follow recipes. If you are new to kidney disease this is a good book to help you learn about what's safe to eat. It includes different information for people on dialysis and those not yet

At last - a kidney diet book that is inclusive!
Finally! A kidney diet book that lists ALL the nutrients I have to watch each day- and in one place. I searched high and low for this- most boods give separate lists and you get so confused going back and forth. This is exactly what you need to help plan your diet. It also gives you a great way to go food shopping. Thank you so much!

Value Your Kidneys? Look Elsewhere
I'm not an expert on the many causes of kidney failure, but I do know that a diet with foods listed as high PRAL (Potential Renal Acid Load) is one of them. They include meals very high in meat, dairy, sugar, white flour, baked and canned goods like tuna and can lead even the healthiest person down the road to eventual renal disease. The problem with this book is that the author seems unaware of PRAL. Pages 21-26 include a list of Fiber, Potassium, Phosphorous, Protein and Sodium, but nothing about acid-forming foods. The breakfast recipes alone include turkey, whole eggs, granulated sugar, white bread and honey. Next are sections on poultry, beef, pork and lamb. The soups rely on chicken stock. Ready for dessert? Canned peaches, white sugar, more eggs and cream cheese. Do yourself a favor, buy Lee Hull's book, 'Stopping Kidney Disease: A science based treatment plan to use your doctor, drugs, diet and exercise to slow or stop the progression of incurable kidney disease.' It's available on Amazon and for a few dollars more but well worth it.
