Have only had this less than a week but so far so good. I coupled this with my 5ft ugly stik ultralight since I lost the spool cap on the Shakespeare one that came with the rod. All I can say is this reel is better in every aspect. It's heavier, but you're getting better quality. Drag is smooth as silk, very little retrieve wobble. Construction components are not the greatest, but it's not bad either. It's a nice looking reel too, nothing too boring or outrageous about it. As long as I don't overly abuse this reel, I can see it lasting a long time.3 years later update: Reel still works. I had to warranty the handle after the first 5 months, the teeth that connect to the inside gear are cheap plastic and broke off. I have caught probably a thousand fish on this reel. I used it at least 3 days a week the entire time I had it. Dunked it many times, used it in salt water a couple times too! Landed some very big fish with this little reel. Drag still works good. It did wear out over time though, can't get it to reel as smooth as it was out of the box. I did routine maintenance on it the entire time I had it. It's a good reel, just watch out for the handle and check on it routinely.

Awesome reel. Runs smooth, feel tough. Comes with a detailed diagram with every parts and part nubers. Okuma is a solid brand.
