Excellent book
Most Bible study books provide a structured study of a person or topic. What Shannon has done in this book is to record the events several women encountered, brought in events in other parts of the Scripture that pertain to the person or times of this event tp allow you get a clearer picture of the dynamics of each storyline. With that as background Shannon inserts her idea of what each woman might be thinking at various times during the event and what the impact is on them. For example, in commenting on Ruth 1:16-17 Shannon notes "...think about what this really means for Ruth. She was completely disavowing her former life and pledging to commit to a new country, a new home, a new people, even a new religious affiliations. It is truly remarkable."She then notes the Ruth is going to Naomi's home ..."Bethlehem ... the city of David's birth...the home of a great king, but to a Christian reading this story...it is the birthplace of eternal king, Jesus".A great story about a greater story. There is a set of questions at the end of each chapter for review and discussion as well as a separate study guide which is a great addition to the book.
