Definitely worth watching if you love the genre
I have always loved all of the conjuring universe movies, but this one is the most difficult to watch for me. I have seen it more than once, but it’s one that I hesitate and have to be in a certain kind of mood to watch. It feels more intense and graphic in places, so I took away one star. Love that the same characters have stayed throughout the series and it is still my favorite ghost movie I guess. But there are times when I have to look away.

Brilliant Conjuring latest edition.
Anyone who bad mouths this film clearly hasn't a Brain, as its excellent.Due to mixed reviews I was a little anxious before watching this with friends, and we all agreed its one of the best.It has a cleaver way of placing snippets of the past when another discovery is unearthed, then back to the films true time line.I did wonder if this was going to be a Court Room based horror, and even though a small part of the film was at Court, they smoothly brought it to a head at the end as to the sentence, and the fact its based on a true story only added to the build up.This new Conjuring Universe film fits into set with honours, and if a fan of the series this is a must have.

HAS ITS MOMENTS
Said to be based on real-happenings that were investigated by Ed Warrenplayed in the film by Patrick Wilson and wife Lorraine played by Vera Farmigaand obviously subject to 'Dramatic-Licence' to create a tense movie.(obviously there is much unexplained in circumstances such as this)The story tells of how a while after the Warren's attend the exorcism of an 8-year-old boy they discover that the evil had been transferred to the boys sistersboyfriend.Back on the trail of the demon Ed and Lorraine risk all to discover more and tryand defeat the presence.Run of the mill, we've seen it all before in truth, the film does have its momentsthough I would not describe it as scar, a little tense at times perhaps.Wait for it to be available at little cost Lstreaming-perhaps)

Very poor
This film is extremely poor.At the start of the film it says "based on a true story", I can honestly say apart from names and the main storyline for the film (the warrens supporting a man who is put on trail for murder who is claiming not guilty by reason of demonic possession) everything else is made up and has just been put in for the purpose for the film.I would strongly recommend giving this film a miss and just read about the case online instead. If you want to watch a film about demonic possession then watch The Exorcist instead which this film has clearly copied off (from the icon image of the vicar standing in front of the house, to the part of finding a weird cult skull under the house - I turned the film off at this point as I knew what was coming and I wasn't wrong, complete waste of time watching).

a good addition to the film series "enjoyable"
Well I remember the coverage on "spooky shows" covering the original real life story when the 'DEVIL' was to blame.. YES in the good old USA "Hmmmm"anyway, back to the film as per the previous films they are entertaining to watch & enjoy, however you also have to watch these with a grain "BAG" of salt as they are so far fetched compared to the real events "as per the previous 2 films "YES its Hollywood & they always add/massively change stories/events for entertainment purposes" which does take away some of the entertainment &chill factor for the real reported events... (ok it was more then likely a simple twisted mind & some very exaggerated individual's surrounding this story, mixed with a pretty highly religious state etc)so for entertainment yes watch it OR better still watch all 3 together. for a modern horror flick its good, as per other "horror films of modern times, which should be referred to comedies or simply avoided at all costs etc"its a pity they've not yet added a directors cut which adds details/coverage of the real reported events etc as that would add more spook to the actual film itself..

What the Devil ?......
Loved The Conjuring, even the second one was really good-apart from the fact that Ed and Lorraine Warren were never allowed to actually visit the Enfield Haunting House and it's still conjecture as to what really happened there. Not sure what is wrong but this film is all over the place. The pacing, story, whole feel of it is too slow, the reason/motive for the house to be cursed is far from clear.Normally a possession or haunting has a reason behind it,unless I'm missing it this one is unclear.A few mild jump scares, some decent effects and Vera Farmiga is good in everything she does but sadly,I found it quite tedious...I do find the conceit of The Devil Made Me Do It interesting when used as a claim of innocence as if you-or the legal system firmly believes in "God" then you have no excuse in denying the existence of The Devil....You can't deny one without the other, not that I believe in all that nonsense.
