I was expecting a 'domestic thriller', but this is just 'domestic'
I've read also other books from Lisa Jewell, such as 'Watching you','I found you', 'And then she was gone' - the latter, I enjoyed the most. Unfortunately, this one is so boring and disappointing and, as other reviewers mentioned, it does not get to a point. The book is about an enlarged family, Adrian husband of one, former husband of two and father of five and he come to terms with his own life and existance when he finds himself widow after his wife Maya dies.Tha't pretty much about it. The secrets the family members hide are just some gossip elements which bring no addiction to the plot and/or to the other characters and nothing really happens in the whole book.I finished just because I was curious to find out if anythig a little more exciting came out, but it didn't.

If you love Lisa Jewell books, you won't want to miss this one.
In this book the protagonist slowly becomes the unaware antagonist. The surrounding characters (the family) begin to voice their views, but they fall on the deaf ears of someone, in his own mind, can do no wrong. As the characters develop and are forced to express themselves in louder ways for better or worse, the twists and turns that this author is known for brings out a vast array of emotions that explains the pain, disappointment and actions of the surrounding family. This book takes each character thru a journey of self awareness of missteps as awkward and enlightening as that can be, and when every action affects every other person in the family. The ending to me showed how "out of the mouths of babes comes greater insight into life's bigger picture. This book will not disappoint. It was thoughtfully and brilliantly written.
