Nice and thick to cushion your weapon from your work surface and also prevents any oils or other debris from getting onto the table or bench below it. The mat provides plenty of space to work on your weapon though it is too small for the long weapons - this is clearly a mat for hand weapon cleaning. I particularly like the little storage bin for the smaller parts. It rolls up and stores easily too. Definitely a good buy and I recommend it.

This is a nice, compact kit with everything you need (minus cleaner/ oil) to clean a handgun. Comes with plenty of patches and the mat with magnetic tray is a nice bonus.

I have Real Avid's similar kit for AR15. The durability and features of that kit were what inspired me to get this one for handguns. I have the rifle kit setup at a workbench in the garage. With this kit I can post up at a table or on the go. They make a solid, sturdy product. All the cleaning tools are of excellent quality and are smartly designed and fit nicely into the compact little case, case easily stows in a range bag or can be put on a shelf or workbench. I like that this kit also came with tons of the small cleaning cloths, of two sizes, I should be stocked on those for a couple of years now, at least. The mats are solid and clean off easily, no matter how much muck you get all over them. I also like the built in tool tray on the side so you can keep track of parts. Overall a solid product from what I have found to be a solid company. Highly recommend.

Only ordered mat. The magnetic compartment is pretty small and the cover that holds the magnets (2 button magnets) is loose. Magnets have fell out once already moving it. After using it, I think I would have preferred a separate parts tray. The mat itself seems good.

I have had this mat for years. I use it at a minimum once a week to clean my service weapon and it has been extremely durable and easy to keep clean.

Love the oil-repellent mat and the parts tray. I wish the magnetic section were larger but it fits captive recoil spring assemblies for my two 9mm firearms suitably. Has held up well so far.

Nice size for handgun maintenance. Handy divided tray for small parts. Barrel, springs etc. One section has a magnet under it to hold small stuff securely. Easy to cleanup/wipedown of solvent & lube.
