Excellent product. Although...
I bought this as a soil amendment for carnivorous plants (Sundews, & Venus Fly Traps). This product is ideal for this purpose!I just wish it came with a more friendly price tag... $19 Canadian for just 2 pounds seems pretty steep, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find this grain size elsewhere.Good to note that the package came double wrapped in thick, sealed plastic inside the Amazon bubble wrap envelope, so there was very little chance of any spillage.Overall, I am very happy with the product itself.

FINALLY the right size coarse sand for potting mixes!
This is the only sand I can find online that is the right size to add bulk and drainage to your potting mixes. This is smaller than pumice and larger then typically sand (probably .75-2mm, but total guess). The bag is quite small, but sand is heavy so not disappointed. Which the seller would offer larger sizes. But if you have been looking for true coarse sand that for indoor custom potting mixes, this is the size you need! You can stop looking now (unless you need a ton, haha). To clarify, adding typical beach sized sand or find sand does add heft to your soil but since it is so close in size to peat moss and coir bases, it doesn't improve aeration and drainage. You need this slightly larger coarse sand if that's what you are trying to achieve.Think about it like this. If you fill a jar with all same sized particles, like fine sand, and poor water in it. THen look how long, if at all, it takes for that water to "drain" through the sand and end up at the bottom. Now imagine putting small rocks in the same jar. They don't compact and thus the water would have plenty of air pockets and almost fall directly to the bottom. This is what larger coarse sand does; adds air pockets for oxygen exchange (aeration) and drainage (preventing root rot).Of course, outside the above hypothetical, the other ingredients (coir, peat, etc.) do retain moisture needed, so with potting mixes we are looking for a balance of retention and drainage. Too much of either is bad (though IMO, it's easier to address too much drainage than too much water retention--simply water/fertilize more or add some coir). Will try to add pictures later when on my personal laptop.Of course in a potting mix we want

Messy of course, but works great!
Purchased for a diorama and ended up using for our Vday mailbox. Went on fine with hot glue even though there's glue specifically formulated for this type of stuff. It was messy, but stuck well and was real sand. Loved the details.

Wash it first
I did not wash mine. I've dealt with enough gravel and sand to know you should rinse it.The whole 2lbs went into a 3gal container, it clouded a little but was clear by morning.
