This is my 2nd time buying this reel it will cast further than the 6500s with more drag and more bearings you can stay in the fight a fish with this reel.

So easy, a caveman can use it! You can save 15% or more by switching geico...yeah right...this real is awesome, would recommend it to anyone who knows how to use a baitcaster, and for you girly men, keep on using spincasters.

HORRIBLE DRAG! I bough a first one, and even with the brakes set at maximum, I could pull the line effortlessly. I compared to my other reels, even the cheapest one I have, or my kid's one, I either wasn't able to pull any line or had to put strength into it. So I figured maybe I just got a defective one, because, hey, it happens, but I got the second one in and the same thing happened again, no effort to pull the line out even with the brakes set at max. Again I doubled checked with my other reels... but sorry, I'm returning the second one to. I have other Abu Garcia reels, and my brother-in-law had a different Ambassadeur model, but this one is a real disappointment... a shame, because I love the outside design and colors.On top of that, the line alarm doesn't work, I turned it on just to see if it made a difference, but when pulling the line, still with no effort, it didn't click, it only clicks when you reel the line back in.When I first read the reviews here on Amazon, the one & 2 star ones that I read just said terrible quality & made in China no Sweden. But there were plenty of good reviews about it. Now I read more of the low star ones, and other people also had problems with the drag, so it seems to be a general problem.

I am experienced in fishing but this is my first baitcasting reel. It's smaller and lighter than i expected. Even though it said made in Sweden in advertisements i looked and found a teeny tiny sticker that said 'made in china' on the reel. After that initial disappointment I think the reel worked great except for my 'newbie' mistakes of line backlash which i'm still learning different adjustments to fix. I think that's my fault. not the reel.

Very smooth. Good drag though maybe a little sensitive. Caught 4 sturgeon on the CA Delta and have to say, I'm impressed. I'm a bass guy and demand smooth and good bearings. My friends teased this was too light. They were wrong!

Purchased this reel from Amazon Warehouse Deals, used, seems like a good reel, the only issue I found was that whoever had it first messed it up, the tensioner knob was missing the little brass plates inside, they're necessary to adjust the cast, and it felt like it had too much grease inside, the cast would die in mid air, probably due to all that grease inside, if it wasn't missing parts, I would've kept it, Amazon was excellent as always... Thanks!!!

Good reel. Use it for cats. Great drag.
