An interesting read
I'd recommend this book - it's the true story of how seven young men give up everything to become missionaries in China. The story stops with them leaving for China, instead looking at their conversions to Christianity, crises of faith and life at university. It's inspiring because the boys come across as normal human beings - it's clear they're not saints, and they do struggle, but ultimately they're dedicated to going to China to tell the people there about Jesus. In going to China they also leave a great deal behind; one played cricket for England, others faced family opposition to the trip, and back then it when you became a missionary you didn't necessarily expect to return any time soon. The style of writing is slightly old fashioned, making it a little bit more difficult to read than most modern biographies. For example, the men are often referred to by their initials which can be confusing, and it's written in a fairly formal style. But it's a compelling and inspiring read, whether or not you share the Christian beliefs of the author and the Cambridge Seven.
