They work and fit my 2005 outback limited
Install was tricky but that was because getting the existing hardware off was the real pain. Once I did these went on with ease and were an exact fit. Soooooooo nice to finally have the hatch lift and stay up. Such a simple fix and just bummed I waited so long to do it.Highly recommend using vice grips to hold door up (grip other strut while removing one) or long pole to keep the doors maxed out as compressing these into place without tools holding the door is a pain. A friendly friend would also work nicely.

Fit right for the price.
Exact fit for my 2006 Subaru Outback. Work like OEM. Would give 5 stars, but fit between rod and piston bore is a little loose. But for the price compared to other options, should last the remaining life of the car.

fairly easy to install, worthwhile improvement
These are not hard to install, but here are some hints:1. Buy a push fastener removal tool and an assortment of push fasteners2. Watch a couple of youtube video3. Remove/replace the screws with a socket, not a screwdriver4. On the left side, you can screw in the ball stud, assemble the support, then finally insert the retainer clip in the ball socket. On the right side, the hole for the clip is on the back, so you have to put the stud in the socket and insert the clip before you screw the stud into the car.

Made our hatch work like new again
The rear lift gate on our Subaru Outback wagon was getting weak and requiring more and more effort to get it to open all the way and stay that way. Finally one cold day when it dropped on its own, bonking me soundly in the head, I decided to replace the struts. I went to our local auto parts store, and found they wanted almost $122 dollars for a pair!! Since they were not in stock and it would have been a special order, I decided to just come home and research Amazon. I was quite surprised, and a little suspicious of the potential quality of these based on the price, but ordered anyway. They were a little challenging to mount because the instructions are pretty vague, but finally got them installed. The first couple of times I flipped open the lift gate, I almost got hit in the face. The gate now springs up all the way open with only a slight pull to get it started. Even if these only last a year, I can continue to replace them for the life of the car, and still come out money ahead for what the parts store was going to charge.

Worked and fit fine.
Easy install. Had to remove 1 trim piece and un bolt 2 bolts per side. Heck of a lot cheaper than from dealership.

Best aftermarket replacement
Struts were really easy to install, no problems and do a great job keeping the liftgate up even in cold weather.

Fit my 2008 Subaru Outback wagon
Pretty straight forward to install, although you will have to find a YouTube video as there are absolutely zero instructions. The only complaint I have is that the lift gate doesn’t fully open. And it’s a little stiff. Once you get the gate about eye level, you have to keep pushing it up to make sure it opens, otherwise it just stops there. Perhaps the colder weather is to blame or maybe because the are new they need repeated use to loosen them up. Either way, they fit and work, but not at seamlessly as I had hoped.
