To those saying brush shedded hairs, was it because bristles came into contact with the sticky adhesive used to hold gold leaf and were pulled out?

This is a gold dusting brush. Due to shipping, transit, and other uses bristles can and do come loose as it is natural goat hair. The best way to remedy the issue is to gently run the bristle through two fingers in a gentle upward motion to remove any loose hairs prior to use.

Can this brush be used for acrylic paints?

Brush is too delicate for painting, meant for a soft touch to gold leaf

Is this bush used to Apply glue?

I wouldn't use it for that. I used this brush for applying an Antique Gold "rub on" type Gilding paint, on a significant size Chandelier. It was perfect for that project.

Have tried to clean brush with soap & water & brush remains sticky Any suggestions?

It sounds like your leaf adhesive is not solvable in water. The brush is delicate, so I’m not sure if a stronger cleaner would destroy it
