Flora Fauna

Good album. So glad I've discovered her. Hadn't known of her until now 😲!

First things first: I think the two singles "Creature of Mine" and "Human Replacement" are awesome, and I think anyone who can write songs like that is someone to watch. I therefore bought the album expecting more of the same, which is to say a female vocalist singing melodic songs with a bit of an edge to them, both lyrically and musically, perhaps the missing link between Florence and the Machine and Laura Marling.The rest of the album is unfortunately not particularly like those two singles. Billie said she taught herself bass guitar to write "Human Replacement", and the results are impressive, it's a song with a real drive. "Creature of Mine" similarly has a groove to it and a killer chorus. I'm sure fans of dreamy folk pop will enjoy the other tracks on the album, but they sink a little bit too much into the background for me. I'm glad I bought "Flora Fauna" though, and I'll be interested to see what Billie does next.
