A response to the negative reviews
My review is a response to some of the negative reviews. Some complaints on these readers mention that the books don’t contain decodeable words (words the kids can sound out) in addition to the sight words. For example: “I can exercise.” The sight word is “can”. The word “exercise” may be too long to sound out for beginning readers. My thought is this:The kids are learning the sight word for each book. They are building confidence and even learning vocabulary. This isn’t an opportunity for decoding or learning to sound out words, so if that’s what you’re looking for-these aren’t the right books.I like them because they are establishing confidence in reading. They can use clues from the pictures to decipher the text and they can say the whole sentence on their own without help- while also learning the sigh word that is repeated on each page.We do the same book for a week, and take time at the end of each book to find the sight word on the back page.I would recommend making a word wall to review the sight words you’ve covered. And remember- keep it fun! If this is your child’s first exposure to reading- a big win would be, them learning to love it, and not to be intimidated.

Great confidence builders for new readers
My 6 year old is starting to sound out simple words and grasp reading. These have been a great fit to introduce regular sight words, some simple sound-them-out words, and the few “hard” words have excellent pictorial representation to help her decode the written word.

Easy way to teach basic words to kids.
I got these for my three and five year old. They are such good books with a good system to learning the words. I had tried flash cards and learning YouTube videos and word charts but these books are what worked for me. The kids learn the words so easily when you read the books to them and point out the word of the day. My son and daughter are already reading a few of the books. I like the way the word build on each other.

Perfect for early readers
My daughter's special education teacher recommended getting these for her. She picked the nonfiction ones and she loves them. We read them a few times and a week and it has really helped her learn her sight words. Highly recommend.

Great beginner’s resource
These are perfect for beginner readers. Each book focuses on one sight word and the pictures help the students infer the words they can’t yet decode. I appreciate that they chose nonfiction to help build vocabulary. We focused on 1 book a week and used it for fluency. At the end of the week we put the sight word on a chart and used the chart as review before the next book. I really like how the set includes a writing companion to practice the sight words. They also include a recognition game of Bingo on the last page which is a fun touch. These are just what we were looking for!

Great for sight reading
My 3 1/2 year old loves these. They make him feel like he’s got a reading book like his big brother, and a lot of the words are becoming familiar. I’m hoping this will help for when he starts school in September.

Good books
The books are a bit small for my liking i wish they were a bit bigger but other than that my son enjoys them. Easy to follow and teach!
