Great tool for the video enthusiast
I purchased this for a once in a lifetime holiday to Canada, and don't regret a single penny. It enabled me to produce some really nice and quirky footage, which makes the final result that much more interesting.I did, and I would, recommend that you watch some videos on tips and hints. There are some really good channels on youtube, so worthwhile investing some time watching. It has an excellent build quality. light and comfortable to carry. Easy to setup.Since purchasing mine, a newer model has been released, but I don't believe there is a great difference in functionality. The clip that goes on the phone is magnetic and fits the phone snuggly. The only issue is you have to have it central to the phone so it may or may not interfere with side buttons. The magnetic clip is very powerful and unless you shake it really excessively, has never fallen off.The DJI Mimo software is very reasonable however you have to download it and install (Android) manually as it is not in the playstore. Why? I don't really know. You can use your native cameral software though, but the Mimo does add more options. My only gripe with the software is that your phone connects via bluetooth and when you put it into suspend mode, more often than not it doesn't automatically reconnect. I also had an issue which I reported to the DJI which was to do with the software not correctly identifying the GPS location, so registered a lot of my video being in Russia rather than Canada. They did eventually acknowledge the bug and hopefully by now has been resolved.

DJI Smartphone Gimbal
After 2 years of use, the OM 5 Smartphone Gimbal Stabilizer proves to be a reliable and versatile tool for both amateur and professional content creators. Its robust build, excellent stabilization, and user-friendly features make it a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about mobile videography. Whether you’re vlogging, creating TikTok videos, or simply capturing everyday moments, the OM 5 enhances the quality of your footage, ensuring smooth and professional results every time. The built-in extension rod adds to its versatility, allowing users to capture unique angles and dynamic shots without carrying additional equipment. This feature is especially useful for group selfies and overhead shots, providing flexibility in various shooting scenarios.Battery life is a critical factor for any mobile accessory, and the OM 5 performs admirably in this regard. A single charge provides up to six hours of continuous use, which is sufficient for most shooting sessions. The gimbal also charges relatively quickly, reaching full capacity in about two hours. Over long-term use, the battery has shown no signs of significant degradation, maintaining consistent performance.I highly recommend this Gimbal

The DJI OM5 is a massive improvement to my OSMO 2 mobile. Setting up is very simple and the OM5 is very simple to calibrate, it packs away into a small package which is perfect for travelling.Pros:- OM is small and will fit into a bag perfectly- Battery life lasts around 6 hours!!- Only takes 1 hour 15 minutes ish to chargeCons:- More features on IPhone compared of Android

Very smooth footage using an iPhone
I have used various electronic and mechanical stabilizers from a number of brands for 15+ years and apart from a bit of a learning curve getting the app to connect on first use this gimbal is:i) The easiest and most intuitive gimbal I have ever usedii) It shoots the most stable smooth footageiii) Is incredibly lightweightI have done tests with gimbals 3-4x the price of this one and they sometimes struggle in complex outdoor environments like forests, where you can get juddery footage. On first use this gimbal it gave me perfect smooth footage using a smartphone and I was even able to walk fast, run up and down uneven slopes and get usable footage. Impressive.

It works with a Samsung A12
This OM5 is a stunning piece of kit - everything you read about it in the reviews is correct - I'm just posting this to let anyone know that despite the DJI website saying it's incompatible with the Samsung A12, it does actually work - all the features too.I checked with DJI before buying and they said "sorry, not compatible" - so I bought it to see If any features worked on it with the A12 and If not my wife could use it on her A21.Really well pleased to see that everything on the unit itself and on the Mimo app works fully - Brilliant

Overall - sadly not good enough!
In a nutshell - this product is a great idea in theory but doesn't really work so well in practice.I have a much older model Osmo (not even for smartphones) and the results it produces are much more superior to this brand spanking new model.Shooting on the OM 5 with my Android phone results in a bunch of issues: The gimbal doesn't appear to stabilise the picture as well as my old Osmo. There are vertical jumps in particular. It also appears to be skipping frames here and there, resulting in jumps in picture - a complete no-no!In addition, the controls on this model are a lot more complicated/less intuitive than on my older Osmo.In hindsight, I should have known this as the product costs just over £100, and you certainly get what you pay for.The reason I wanted this model is ease and speed of connection so you can be up and recording quickly - something that just isn't possible with my older model Osmo - and credit where credit is due, the OM 5 can shoot relatively quickly so I manage to record things I would have missed with the old model. However, when the footage you shoot ends up being unusable or looking ropey at best, then speed soon starts becoming less important. I would not buy this product again, nor would I recommend it.
