Very funny and heartwarming
Some of the characters in the book were so funny! Very insightful and heartwarming. Interesting and thought-provoking -- what would you do if you knew your life's potential. Highly recommend.

Good book
It's a good book and fun to read. I'd give it five stars but a little too much like a Hallmark movie for my taste.

Trigger Warning
I watched the show first and LOVED it. As others noted, the book is VERY different.I find it incredulous that people called the book “heartwarming”, “delightful”, and “pleasant” when there is a sexual assault by a group of boys on one of the main characters. Furthermore, I’m shocked and perturbed that the writer would try to normalize the event by having another main character write it off as a normal Friday night. The theme, tone, relationships, and characters are almost nothing like the show.I’d love to read a season 3 screenplay if it ever gets published. I won’t be reading another book by this author in the future.

Fun book
I’m enjoying the book although I haven’t finished it yet. It came quickly.

Three and a half
The end (last chapter) was interesting- more so than the rest of the book. The main premise was interesting and the townspeople were somewhat compelling, but part of the plot felt really shoehorned in, in an attempt to be relevant. Also, some major telegraphing.

Delightful!!!
Adored this book from start to finish and, when finished, wanted to begin again. Impeccably written, emotionally honest and 100% unique. Instant southern classic. Bravo!

Different than the tv-series
Well-written novel with an intrigiung premise. Not sure if I like the book or the Apple TV-show better; even though the premise is the same, the book takes a few significantly different steps.

Not nearly as good as the TV series
I read this book hoping to find the answers to questions posed by the TV series. It became clear very quickly that the tv series writers just cherry-picked plot details from the book and changed a lot of character names. M. O. Walsh tries so hard to be profound about human existence, but doesn't quite succeed.

Heartwarming
This book by M.O. Walsh is a delightful read. He has managed to capture normal people and how they cope with their lives with humor, charm and finess.

Bought after watching TV show
Interesting outlook

Tiresome
A flat, tedious novel that somehow inspired a much richer, warmer, more interesting TV show. Watch that instead, it’s much better than this book.
