So soft and warm
Having a bald/shaved head, I almost always need winter hats to stay warm outside when it gets cold (and living in New England, it gets cold). I just got this and I'm so impressed with the softness and warmth of the hat. The grey (or was it carbon) color is really nice and I'm a little worried that my wife or my son is going to permanently borrow it from me. My only minor complaint is that it's a little tighter than I thought it would be. I'm a 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 hat size with a pretty narrow face and so I thought this would be comfortable. In reality, it's a little tight, but it's fine to wear when I manually stretch it out. Plus, I think it will break in nicely. I recommend this to you, unless you have an enormous head, it which case you might find it tight. I hope this review helps you make a decision.

Very warm; more than it seems like it would be
When I took this hat out of its package, it didn't seem very impressive. It's not especially substantial (2.3 oz according to my kitchen scale) and acrylic fleece isn't remarkable these days. But the weather the other day here had a high temperature below zero (Fahrenheit) with a wind of 15 mph with gusts of twice that. This hat kept my head comfortable in those conditions for an hour. That's pretty impressive. The trick, I think, is that it's made of a double layer of acrylic fleece. And then the fabric is folded back upward (like a pants cuff) at the bottom for a couple of inches. So there are two layers of fabric at the top of your head and four layers over your ears. That makes it warmer than other hats that are bulkier and heavier.

Great warm hat, doesn't itch at all
I've tried a few woven hats in the past, but they all itched or were uncomfortable, so I never wore them. I needed a warm cap for camping, so I tried the Turtle Fur based on the positive reviews. This hat is great. It fits my big head well, is nice and warm, and best of all, it is super soft and comfortable. It doesn't itch or irritate my forehead or ears at all. I was nice and warm and slept well on my weekend camping trip. Highly recommended.

Really warm and fitting, not that pretty tho and questions about the material
Its really warm and fits my head snuggly, but I'd prefer if the fleece wasnt on the exterior as well. It seems like it could get those little clumps of cloth on it from wearing and washing. I read on the tag that the material is actually called acrylic and found out it's 100% synthetic. So even though fleece is a byproduct of wool, its all chemically made I guess. That kind of disappointed me when I saw it being listed in the same category as polyester. It isn't the hats fault of course, just my lack of information till now. But in that case I don't really see the need to boast about being all fleece. So yes, the hat is really warm, fitting and quality I guess, we'll see. Buut it also doesn't look that pretty hahha you can't have it all.. I'm a girl with short hair and I look like a cancer patient while wearing it, oh well

A great cold weather hat.
I love this brand. It balances being lightweight, great fitting (for me) and warm enough. Lots of beanies look the business, but just don't protect my dome (and ears!) from that cold winter wind. This one really does a great job. It's the right size, big enough, but not overly so. I love the feel of the fabric. And having previous Turtlefur branded stuff (a neck gaiter) I know this stuff tends to wear well, and last. I'm happy with this purchase.

Fleece not knit.
So much softer than knit, and not itchy like knit.

Turtle fur is very warm
I just purchased my second turtle hat. I live in Southern California, so I didn’t wear the first one out. I wore it when I went to Antarctica. I wore it when I went to NYC to see the Rockettes. I wore it when I went to Idaho in January…and somehow, somewhere, I left it there! I loved that turtle hat. It kept my head and ears warmer than any non-turtle hats I have. It’s no good for Southern California, but it great when it gets really cold.

Really warm but tight fit, even on average size head.
I was so excited to get this hat. It is nice and warm, covers my ears fully and can pull down to cover back of neck. The problem is that is runs small so is quite tight, actually giving me a headache. My head is small to average size for a female so was really disappointed by this fit. Doubtful that it will stretch out at all based on the weave of the material. Probably have to return.
