Awesome, excellent book with two extremely minor complaints.
Thank you so much, Matthew, for making this book available to all learners of Egyptian Arabic! I cannot thank you enough. As if your "Egyptian Colloquial Arabic Verbs: Conjugation Tables and Grammar" book and the exercise book from 2012 weren't enough, you came out with another great masterpiece. (I have ordered the other two books but haven't received them which is why I'm only able to review on this one.) Honestly, I don't think anyone has written a book (in any language) so detailed on Egyptian Arabic verbs, their conjugations in all tenses with plenty of real-life examples *and* audio files.I have two minor complaints but they're very very minor.1) I feel that the male speaker who reads the examples speaks a bit too fast. I'm sure it's actually just the normal speed for natives but just a little too fast with lots of reduced sounds in the colloquial language. If you're in Egypt and get to hear Arabic everyday, I don't think this should be an issue but for me, he was way too fast. I'm sure I'd eventually have to get used to it.2) The long vowel 'a' in Egyptian Colloquial Arabic can either sound like "ah" as in "father" (in the verb "to go" = raaH) or it can also sound like something between "e" as in "egg" and "a" as in "apple" (in the verb "to drive" = saa2) but in this book it's simply written as ā (small letter "a" with a bar over it) which can cause mispronunciation if you don't have a native tutor or don't get to hear Arabic often.Great awesome book, I love it!

Definite must-buy if you're learning Egyptian Arabic!
Buy the electronic version. I can imagine finding the right verb quickly in print form might be frustrating, so I'd only do that if you're in a position where using a laptop is not possible. Doing searches on your laptop will be much faster. Here's what makes this book amazing:* Hundreds of verbs, with full verb tables, for a spoken language. That's amazing by itself - spoken languages are so poorly documented that it's amazing this one is.* Example sentences showing all the way you can use a verb. And if you use the electronic version (you should), you can search to find words for your verb that you might find under other verbs.* Recorded audio to go along with the sentences from the website. Amazing! The detail and accuracy in this book are incredible. Sometimes I think I've found an error, but then realise that it's my understanding that's limited.

Great resource, Arabic is illegibly small
This is just what I needed as far as veeb selection and conjugation tables, and the transliteration is great. Unfortunately, the Arabic type is so small it is illegible -- you literally cannot distinguish whether there are one or two orthographic dots below the consonants unless you take a photo and blow it up; that limits the book's usefulness and I'm taking a star for it.

this is perfect. Of course
So many verb books give you words that you will never use in a hundred years. This book gives the verbs you will actually use in your day-to-day living. One page has a verb in all the forms you need written in Arabic, transliterated Arabic and with all persons. The facing page has 6 or 7 sentences showing you the use of the verb, again in Arabic, transliterated Arabic and English. If you are learning Egyptian Arabic, this is perfect. Of course, it has no grammar. You need your regular grammar book for study.
