Tears of My Motherland is an emotional read. It strikes a chord with every reader and takes them into a hitherto unknown journey. That is what makes the book unique.After the untimely demise of Subhash Chandra Bose, Indians living in South East Asia were in a fix. Their hero, the one who fought for the freedom of their motherland was gone. They were in a fix. They didn’t know what to do. But who can escape the daily struggles of life? When you are a migrant you are in constant search of better life. In fact, that is the very reason why you migrate from your motherland and step into unknown territories. It is against this backdrop that Tears of My Motherland is set. This topic has never made its way into the mainstream books and media. The author needs to be congratulated for the same.The author has won half of the battle by choosing such a unique concept. With characters that are easy to relate he wins the second half too. You feel for the characters, and that is the success of the author. The author keeps us glued up to the end and makes us introspect. The language is simple, yet riveting. The flow, the characterization is up to the mark.I loved this book. I feel every Indian, every migrant and person interested in understanding the psyche of migrant diaspora should read this book. Highly recommended!

Tears of My Motherland by Ranabir Sen is a tale of fiction related history. The story begins from present and moves back to past. The storyline has a basic theme of the pain and regret to leave their motherland. They do not know if the new land is welcoming or not.The book explores independence struggle. This is the tale about people who stalled out in South East Asian Countries after the end of one of the best political problem of our country Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, whose demise is as still a secret till date.This book is written in simple and effective language. As a fan of history i enjoyed this book, so i can recommend this book to every history lovers.

India was fighting the independence war on different footings, Gandhi had adopted the non violence way while others had different plans, some of which were ultra aggressive approaches, take for instance Bhagat Singh.But just before India got its independence from the British Raj, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose managed to put together an army who would fight the Britishers. He allied with various forces. Joining Netaji's army meant that one has to leave their motherland, because there was no other option.The story is about such people who Saw a leader in Bose but was eventually trapped in South East Asia, once Netaji died suddenly when no one was expecting it. For them, Netaji was a hope, and with Netaji's demise, their hope to return to their own country was lost. These migrants were now trapped, trapped at a place which had just come out of war with Japan, trapped in a place which had so much cultural differences, trapped in a place which was not their own. They faced existential crisis, but it was their fate and they had to accept it, how they struggled through it is the cream crux of this book, read to find out.For me it's 5 star read.

Historical fiction has always been a favourite of mine and this book is one that leaves a deep impression upon your mind. This is a story that portrays the lives of Indian migrants in South East Asian countries, mainly in Vietnam and Philippines. After the sudden untimely demise of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose during the pre-independence period, these migrants who were supporting him, got entangled in a difficult situation and this book perfectly reflects the scenario about their lives, the identity crisis they faced when they stayed away from their motherland in their adopted country.The story is studded with emotions and the writing style kept me glued to the book till the end. Till date, these incidents were only restricted to history books, but here the author has done a wonderful job in designing a story based on historical backdrops with such vividity!The amount of research done by the author in order to pen down this entire book indeed deserves special appreciation.Overall this is really a wonderful book.Recommended!
