No more unplugging the cooler when we get out of the car!
This thing is so simple that it's brilliant! It works exactly as advertised. We used to have to unplug the cooler every time we got out for more than a quick break. With this little guy plugged in between the cooler and the car outlet, it automatically shuts off when the car battery drops low enough. I was skeptical, so I tested it one day in the driveway. Kept our cooler running nice and cool for 1.5 hours after turning off the car. I'm not sure why they don't just include this as an accessory with the cooler. It's a must-have.

Works perfect, no more unplugging or draining the battery.
This is perfect for my Carplay screen, I don't have to remind my family to unplug when they drive the car, this thing shuts it off automatically and then kicks it back on at startup.

Koolatron battery saver
it is a costly unit , should be part of the cooler. No control to handle, it nver stopped and did not work as expected.Overheated, had to stop using it and discard/

Works perfectly!
This should be standard issue when buying a utility vehicle! It should be an integrated feature already. If you're reading this feedback, you are the target market that should be buying this.I use this extensively for long and overnight trips in my Honda Element. During the day it helps me make ice in my 12v freezer and at night it helps me keep the car warm with a 12v heater- without worrying about killing the car battery. When I wake up in the morning after a cold night and using my heater I'm assured of a decent charge left in my battery in the morning so I can start the engine.I also charge my big 12v jump pack/battery backup and run an inverter to charge my laptop without worry using this.Operation is simple: Daisy chain this in line with whatever you were powering through your always-on 12v plug. When you run down the battery to around 11v, it cuts off power to your accessory. The light goes from green to red when you get too low.Not all vehicles have an always-on 12v plug, but if you're a camper, you should consider making yours into an always-on type.

Warning. Do not purchase
This was a major disappointment. I have been using Koolatron coolers for many years, especially in the days when I was on the road most of the time. In fact I still have several coolers that I purchased over ten years ago that still work perfectly. During this time, I’ve always through it would be great if they could create some kind of “battery saver” that would go between the battery outlet and the unit. Many times, I have forgotten to disconnect the cooler when I was going off to work, or even when parking for the night, and had to recharge my battery the next morning. A battery saver would be great in that it could monitor my battery, and if I stay away from the truck too long, it would automatically shut off the power to the cooler so I would still have enough power in the battery to start it back up. Sounds good, and when I saw that Koolatron actually had such a until I purchased several for my own trucks, and those in my business. Bottom line, they all did not work. It starts with horrific construction so that the “male” plug that goes into your car outlet is way too large, and in order to actually get it into the outlet you have to jam it in with enormous strength, virtually seconds away from breaking the outlet itself. Some of the units were so big that no matter how much effort was used, there was no way to “plug it in”. For the few that we were able to cram into the outlet, we then discovered that it would only show the “off-red light”. In most cases, even with the car running, the red light remained, and in others, the green light only shows when the car is running, however the moment you turn it off, it goes to red and the power shuts off. That is not supposed to be how it works. All batteries can hold a charge with the cooler running for a few hours (I have done this countless times), and should only turn red after it monitors the battery running low. Having tried seven units, they all had this problem, so this is not just a one-off defective unit. In summary, The Koolatron Battery Saver simply does not work. Perhaps it never was meant to work, and like a lot of these kind of auxiliary units, was put on the market, knowing that statically, when buyers receive the unit, and it fails to work, they just throw it away, allowing the company to make some nice profits. Thank God for Amazon’s return policy, since I was able to get refunds on the units without any problem. But I’m sure you simply want a unit that will save your battery when running their cooler, and not something that you will have to send back for a refund. I suggest you do what I have been doing for years, and be diligent about unplugging the cooler when you are going to be away from running your vehicle for more than a few hours. By the way, there is a converter unit that plugs in any AC outlet, and then lets you plug your unit into that, so you can bring your cooler home, and into any place that has AC. I’ve used that unit for years, and it works great. But this is simply worthless junk.

Saves battery as advertised
I bought the Koolatron Battery Saver because my car's 12v jack is always on. I use the jack to power my dashcam and phone charger and don't always remember to unplug them, leading to premature battery failure when car is not driven for a few days. Koolatron to the rescue: it doesn't turn on until the engine is turned on and automatically cuts off before the battery is drained. Now I don't worry about leaving things plugged in, knowing that my battery will be saved. It's also a high-quality build with long, meaty wiring and red/green indicator lights. Excellent product.

Works perfectly
My SUV has an always-on plug in the back, and I use it to plug in my Koolatron 12V Travel Cooler (D24).But since it is always-on, I would need to unplug it when I stopped for any length of time to ensure my battery would not be drained. This is where the Koolatron Battery Saver comes in. It plugs into my vehicles outlet, and then the cooler is plugged into it.It will continue to provide power to my cooler until it detects that my battery is starting to lose power (around 11 volts) and then it will kill the power to the cooler. Now I can just leave the cooler plugged in all the time, and I don't worry about running down my battery.Great product, and works exactly as described for me.

Works
Works well, works for anything that fits the plug. Does shut down around 11v tho 11.8 would be better to keep the battery alive, starting my car hit 7.8v and is hard on the battery but lasted 10 or so hours on first run while parked. Little cooler was cool tho

Simply doesn't work
I was unable to find the seller info for this and would have contacted them, but I couldn't find it so here's your review instead for everyone to see...This product simply doesn't work my car reads 14v and it doesn't work.... I turn on the engine with it plugged in and it still didn't work... It's a fault product I wouldn't recommend buying. Please send me a new 1 and prove it's a malfunction or refund and I'll remove or amend this review.

Works as advertised.
Despite a couple of negative reviews here, I ordered this item and have had it installed for the past couple of weeks. It functions as advertised, without hiccup or glitch. The price does seem a little high when the same product is available from Amazon.com for $25.00. But, that is US$, shipping and possible border problems, customs etc., entered my decision to buy it here. The item was delivered promptly and arrived in perfect condition. I have the unit setup to supply power to both a small powered cooler and my dashcam. It was what I wanted. If you know you need it, want it promptly and without hassle, click Buy now, you won't regret the decision.

Excellent for battery protection
Been looking for this for a while. Amazing product. Can plug in my cooler bag into my vehicle and not have to worry about it draining my battery too low to start the truck
