Great for winding crystal radio coils!
I enjoy building crystal radios, and I needed a better/faster way to wind the coils. I place one of these into each end of a piece of 1.5” PVC pipe, set it in a winding jig that I built, and attach a drill. I now enjoy this part of building these radios, which I used to loathe.I’m sure that these will work great for sanding, as well. They’re built really well. Just remember that the tightening nut is reverse-threaded.

Pretty good drum
The drum itself was nothing special as it is with most sanding drums. The point about this being a "pretty good drum" is when you use the Benchmark spiral bands (sanding sleeves). The two together pair well and there isn't that forcing, sticking a screwdriver between the two to get the band itself to seat. It slides on with just a bit of effort. However, use a different manufacturer's band or a different manufacturer's drum and there might be issues. I had some well known bands and drums and tried to interchange and it was NO WAY gonna go on or it was too loose. Something to think about, although you might hit that one band that won't fight you to the end. Use Benchmark with Benchmark and you should be ok.

What's not included...
Be advised, the photo description shows the expanding drum and also an abrasive sanding drum, and the text references "24 grit", but it arrived w/o any abrasive sanding drums.
