Good quality, thick reinforced rubber, works great. Installation takes time and patience.
I have a Troy Bilt Storm 2420 snow blower. It has a half-inch gap between the impeller paddles and the impeller housing. In good conditions it throws snow just fine. But bad conditions are common; heavy, wet snow will cause it to clog, and to not throw the snow far enough. And the result of not throwing the snow far enough is that I end up having to re-throw snow that I've already thrown. If you've ever had to go over already-thrown snow, you know it's heavy, which means it also doesn't go far enough. With this impeller mod kit, I was able to reduce the gap to 3/32" (the depth of the chute bolts within the impeller housing). The reduced gap takes a 1/2" gap to 3/32"; a huge difference. And the difference in the performance of my snow blower is really amazing. From the right side of my 3-car-wide driveway, I can throw snow all the way to the lawn on the left side, even if the snow is heavier and wetter. It completely changes the snow blowing experience. Now for a review of this specific product. I ordered the 3-paddle version. It came with enough length in each paddle to accommodate the impellers of larger snow blowers. I had to cut down the rubber with a utility knife to fit. And then with an angle grinder fitted with a cutting wheel I cut the stainless steel backing plates do the appropriate length for my snow blower's impeller. The entire project took about 90 minutes. I took my time, measured several times, thought things through as I installed, but in the end it worked out great. I would have preferred one that I didn't have to cut to size, but I understand there are hundreds of snow blowers on the market, each with different size impellers. This is about as good as can be expected. The stainless backing plate, stainless bolts, and thick rubber paddles are really nice. Now that they're installed I can see that it's going to be a durable, long lasting, reliable solution. You could make this yourself if you have stainless steel plates, thick rubber (maybe from an old single-stage snow blower), and bolts on hand. But buying it as one kit made it happen more quickly. Here's how I installed it:1: Remove chute, and chute's base shroud (if there is one) from the snow blower.2: Measure the width of the impeller paddles and mark the rubber and the backing plates. Make sure to line up the bolt holes before marking!3: Cut the rubber with multiple passes with a utility knife. If the edge of your impeller curves upward, you might put an angled trim in the rubber to accommodate the curvature.4: With an angle grinder fitted with a type-1 cutting wheel, cut the backing plates to length.5: Line up one of the impeller kit rubber paddles and backing plates on one impeller fin and mark the drill holes with a center punch.6: With a small drill bit, start a pilot hole (or use the pilot hole screws that came with the kit).7: With a larger bit, complete the holes for the bolts.8: If there are carriage screws that have heads protruding into the impeller housing, put them in place. Then position the paddles to just barely touch them.9: Tighten down the bolts.10: Repeat these steps for the rest of the impeller fins.11: Vacuum out drill dust.12: Replace the chute shroud and the chute.13: Run the snow blower with the impeller spinning for a few minutes. You'll hear a gentle rapping sound if there are carriage bolts slightly contacting the paddles, but this will quiet down over time.14: Go blow some snow!

Works so well I need to relearn how to clear my drive
About twice as large as I needed for my Troy Bilt machine. Used multi tool to cut it to size. Tried to trim down centering between 2 holes in the rubber and ended cutting an end off. Was easy to shift to use 1 of the pre cut oblong holes and temp mount to my impeller. Position the rubber and stainless steel mounting plate and just drill a new hole in the rubber and impeller. Took a couple hours to take matching apart, Mount and put back together. With 2 of the 3 scrapers mounted, could no longer rotate impeller by hand- a little ‘coaxing’ with a hammer and a piece of closet rod did the trick. Only a couple inches of snow in drive today so not sure how it will perform with a 5 or 6 inches. I’ll come back and update after a good snow happens.

I couldn't believe this fixed my Troy-Bilt snow blower!
My brother moved to a warmer climate and left me his Troy-Bilt Storm Tracker 2690 snow blower. Whenever we got even the smallest amount damp snow, I spent more time shutting the machine and using the little plastic toy shovel that came with the snow blower to clear out the chute than actually trying to clear the snow. After 2 winters, I was about ready to buy a new machine but decided to try this modification first. They were challenging to install. When I first started the blower after installing them, the auger got stuck and the auger belt shredded. I bought and installed a new belt (about $10) - not too difficult. It took a couple of minutes for these rubber scrapers to break in. The next morning we got 6" of heavy wet snow. The snow blower ate right through it and sent the snow flying farther than it had done with light snow before installing these. This snow blower was never able to get through even the smallest amount of snow where our driveway meets the road. This time, it went through the heavy 12" pile of snow without a problem. I was amazed at how well it worked then, as well as with the light snow we received last week.

Bolts not long enough
The bolts were not long enough for my Aryan snowblower. I had to go to the hardware store and get longer bolts. Hopefully this helps with my situation.

See It Fly
Determine whether you have 3 or 4 blade impeller & then order accordingly. Top quality kit, straightforward instructions & great performance. Well worth the time & effort required. Videos on YouTube walk you through the process & augment the included instructions. Highly recommended!

Good product
Overall, the product is good and happy with the results. The rubber pads are quality and should last a long time coupled with all stainless hardware. It did take me some time to get the alignment on the impeller just right when mounting the rubber pads and steel plates. I disassembled the discharge chute housing, so I was able to get the bolts through the holes for mounting. When you mark the holes on the impeller, use a center punch so your drill bit doesn't "walk" when making the holes. It's important! I went with a smaller size bit to pre drill before the actual size I needed. From start to finish, it took me about an hour and a half to do the installation. No snow yet, so we shall see...

Exactly as advertised!
Liked that the item arrived ahead of schedule and was very well packaged. The installation instructions were well written and the metal components were stainless steel as advertised; (checked with a magnet to confirm). My only gripe would be that the "kit" only accommodates three impeller blades when many blowers have four blades such as my Ariens. Only able to modify two opposite blades so as to not to adversely effect the blower balance. The installation took longer than I first imagined but I would suggest for anyone considering taking on this task, that they first ensure that they can reach the impeller blades for drilling with the tools they have on hand. I have a number of drills but only the one was able to reach the blower blades comfortably, with the shoot removed of course. F.Y.I. the blades on an Ariens snowblower are quite robust - pilot hole/s needed.

A great modification to any snowblower
Did this kid on my snowblower and can’t wait to use it to see how it will perform, most people say it will shoot the snow a lot further. It takes some time for the installation but it’s well worth it. Highly recommended!!
