Robert Sorby 833H 3/8” Beading and Parting Tool Overall Length 18 3/4” 833H

Keep it sharp and ride the lower quarter of the tool like a skew. I use a spindle gouge and a skew to make my tenon but this tool is great for large beads and removes a lot of material quickly. The french have a specific word for this tool and I can't remember what it is but there are folks using this on spindle work, not just for parting. I suggest this tool but I would get the smaller 1/8" first.

Purchased this tool along with the Robert Sorby #970 Sizing Tool as recommended. Both the tools work well enough to make my turning simple and easy. When I removed the Sizing Tool and used just the Beading and Parting Tool, it was simply very easy to use - even easier than the "other" parting tools I have. Well worth the time to look into this tool.

The Sorby Parting/Beading Tool does a great job. It provides a little more width than the Hurricane equivalent and provides more space for rounding on turning projects.

Received the tool in quick order and was well packed. A 3/8 beading and parting tool is one of those tools that you think is a bit of an oddball till you actually use it. The size makes it nimble for large spindle work yet able to hog off sections when you need it to. Hoping that it proves durable over the long haul.

The tool broke while using it. I have other Robert Sorby tools and they are fine.

Robert Sorby turning tools are the best. This 3/8" parting tool is invaluable in turning boxes and bowls. I use it on just about every project I turn.
