Perfectly tuned right out of the box
This antenna replaced a smaller competitor's model of magnet CB antenna, and I'm happy with the upgrade. I now have 3x the range in both reception and transmission than I had before, without having to change a thing on my CB. The whip is the exact length needed to get a perfect 1:1 SWR reading across all 40 channels, so no tuning was needed. A friend has the same model and he experienced the same perfect tuning results when he installed his.The whip is tall, handles the wind at highway speeds, and flexes good under low branches. I wouldn't go under a branch that came within a foot of the base, though. The magnet is very strong so you don't have to worry about this antenna going anywhere unless you forget to remove it before going into your garage!I have this antenna installed on my Tacoma, and I ran the cable down between the back of the cab and the truck bed, up through a grommet under the truck, and right under my seat to the center console where my CB is installed. This way I don't ever need to remove the magnet base. To remove the coil/whip assembly, simply unscrew it from the magnet base and place the protective plastic cap on the top of the magnet to protect the connection. Easy removal for entry into parking garages or tight low-clearance areas without having to bring the entire antenna and mount down off of your roof.Well worth the money. If you're deciding between this model and a Lil Wil, get this larger antenna and you'll be pleased that you did. Just make sure to always correctly tune your antenna with an SWR meter and know what you're doing, otherwise take it to a CB shop and let them do it. SWR meters are about $19 everywhere, and the instructions are very simple. A tuned antenna will ensure you don't damage your CB.Enjoy!

A-1 Wilson Warranty and Factory Replacement!!
This is my update to former review. I have improved this rating from 2 stars to 5 stars:1. Initially, I only gave this 2 stars, because it arrived from seller with bad factory installed base coil.2. I could NOT achieve acceptable SWR with it, despite compliance with all Wilson instructions. As it turned out the antenna had an OPEN in it and could not receive or transmit properly. I notified the seller and Wilson.3. The overall construction is very good, aside from that manufacturing problem on the initial antenna: you can check the antenna with continuity meter yourself when you buy it. You should be able to get zero ohms resistance between PL259 center pin and outer shell or antenna. Your multimeter should NOT show an open line on this antenna.4. Seller was willing to work with me, IF Wilson had not covered the new unit under warranty.5. Wilson DID OK the return of the defective antenna for factory replacement under warranty. YAY!6. Three cheers for Blue Kangaroos for sticking with me on this. Three cheers for Wilson for EXCELLENT and TIMELY customer service and warranty handling of this whole case. Even their engineer called me to help figure out why I wasn't able to get good SWR.7. Wilson customer service and engineering were both very cooperative!! They included new base, AND whip to replace whip that they had told me to try cutting while we were troubleshooting the SWR issue of first antenna.8. The warranty return took only a few days to reach them and for them to get the new unit to me! VERY GOOD!9. Receiving inspection visual of new replacement was good. Bench test of antenna continuity was good.10. Antenna is on the vehicle and working SPENDIDLY! Thanks to all who helped get this sorted out!

A CB antenna that does the job.
Even though I am a ham radio guy I was into CB first starting in the 1970's. CB is great in the car for traffic reports on channel 19 as long as those riding with you can put up with the trash mouths in between the road reports. I use this antenna on the trunk of my car attached to the radio of the day, either a classic Robyn SB-510D SSB rig or a Bearcat 980 SSB. Both radios work well with this antenna. SWR is below 1.5:1 on all channels. Fit and finish is better than other mag mount antennas in the food chain. The soft plastic sheet under the magnet also covers the lip of the plastic around the magnet so less chance of scratching the paint. The antenna is longer than what I am used to. It will not clear the garage door without stuffing it into the trunk. Not a big deal for me but for some could be an issue.. but a long antenna to me means there is more antenna to get a decent signal out and into the radio, which is a good thing. I'm not sure if the plastic over the loading coil will hold up to long term outdoor use. It feels like something I would use indoors, not outdoors, but time will tell on that one. No problems making contacts with local base stations 10 -15 miles away on SSB while driving down the road using stock power. I will update this review after I use it for a few months. 73.

Excellent antenna that tunes up very nicely.
Using a Galaxy 959 CB/SSB radio in a 2015 Toyota Sienna, was able to achieve 1.15:1 SWR or better on all channels. Mounted the antenna on the center of the roof a bit closer to the rear sunroof than the front. The cool part is that you can only access the antenna by opening a side door; it is out of reach of anyone else without a ladder, so that should help with possible theft as it unscrews easily from the magnetic mount for removal and storage. The antenna comes with a screw-on cover for the mount's N-type male adapter when the antenna is removed, so the connector is protected from rain and dust when not in use. The antenna tuned a little long on this vehicle, but both set screws are fully engaged on the whip. The tip of the antenna is 138" above the ground, or 11.5 feet, so it should clear bridges. Not sure about drive-throughs, but modern gas station roofs are fine. The magnetic mount is very strong and it takes a bit of force to dislodge it, but it is not so strong that it would bend the roof if it collided with something; it would detach first. Should be fine at any speed. My only concern is to remember to remove the antenna before backing into the garage. Bottom line: Great antenna and well worth the price.
