This book has daily meditations and prayers from Saint Augustine. It has become part of my morning prayer routine. The book itself is beautifully bound in leather, and the paper is nice and thick so that it should last for a long time. I highly recommend this book!

Though both have value, which is the greater part in the eyes of God? The body or the soul? We feed our bodies at least an hour or more every day, but what do we do to feed our souls? I read at least an hour or more every day from the Bible and a half dozen other spiritual writings. While this book pales in comparison to other books I'm reading, for its genre--meditative quotes for each day of the year--it's the best in my opinion. The insightful quotes are concise and deep, and makes you think. It's perfect for people who make little time during the day to feed their souls--and in a case like that, any food to a starving soul is good food. And in my opinion this is the best "fast food for the soul" I've personally come across. And as St. Augustine is one of the saints whom most Christian denominations respect, I've given this as a gift to many of my Protestant friends. Everyone I've given this too has enjoyed it. I highly recommend this book. In my opinion it's good food even for those who read a lot and even to those who read little, and is a good tool for evangelization.

My parish priest gave me one of these more than 15 years ago for Christmas. All those years of daily use tool their toll and it was getting difficult to hold it together. I was very happy to find this identical copy which I still read every day. Each page has two daily readings so they are short but powerful.

I can recommend this little book. The reflections and prayers take up about half a page, so they are 'bite-sized' pieces, one for each day. I've always been a bit dubious about Augustine but have been pleasantly surprised, especially by the excerpts from his prayers.

This is one of the best selections of quotes from the writings of St. Augustine of Hippo. The author is an expert on Augustine's works and has chosen an inspiring selection of daily quotes and prayers for inspirational reading throughout the year.

Was disappointed when I received the book. It is a leather covering but it seemed used and when I ordered it, it didn't say it was an used book. For that reason I am giving a one star. I have ordered this book before for my kids and we loved it. Reading St. Augustine everyday is good for the soul.
