Miracle-Gro Shake 'N Feed Palm Plant Food

If you live in the southern states, this is a $18 product. It s great but too expensive here.

I have a horticulture degree and am familiar with northern plants but was not that familiar with how to care for palms. After doing a lot of research, talking to all my neighbors with healthy palms, I have found this fertilizer works best. The key is to use a lot of it. For new palms put down the whole 4 1/2 pound container. For mature palms I would put down 2 of the 4 1/2 pound containers. Yes, 9 pounds. This needs to be done every 3 months. The reason you can and should use so much is that this fertilizer is a time release fertilizer. So fertilizer will leach into the soil over time without burning the roots.

Used this to fertilize an outdoor Sago Palm that was turning yellow. Applied in early fall. Three months later the yellow is nearly all gone. I'll wait until Spring before reapplying. BTW, palms are in Tucson and have been extremely healthy except for this periodic yellowing.

Cannot believe what happened to our palm trees and sagos after using this. The sagos have tons of new growth coming out. You can see in photos the old palms and the new. It’s only been a couple months. Can’t wait to see them continue to flourish.We have 2-3 year old palm trees in front of our porch. They’ve been so sad. The very few palms stood straight up and looked terrible. They are now full and look like palm trees.

My indoor plant has gone crazy since I put this in his planter... almost double his size!
