I have tried several brands of fonio and this one has the best flavor/tastes the freshest. I had never had fonio until trying it recently. When cooked as a hot breakfast cereal it reminds us a lot of the Wheat Hearts I had as a kid or Cream of Wheat. We like to make a little (1/4 cup fonio mixed into 1/2 cup boiling water, let stand covered for five minutes) mixed into yogurt with cut up fruit for a type of muesli for two people. It is very filling.I have noticed with all fonio that it may smell "rancid" when you smell it in the package, but it doesn't taste that way. If you smell a package of Cream of Wheat it can have a similar smell. Some people complain about a gritty texture. If you have that problem, add a little more liquid and heat it up again. Just like Cream of Wheat, it can absorb surprising amounts of liquid. You can cook it more "al dente" or more mushy by adding more or less liquid and cooking it more or less.

Bought it, haven't cooked it yet, but my daughter cooked the product and liked it, so I assume I'll like it, too!

Very neutral flavor, microwaved well per instructions, alternative to wheat-based grains and pasta, mixes well with other ingredients.

I am so excited to see my favorite Fonio brand, La Petite Damba on Amazon. I first discovered this brand on my recent trip to guinea. My family and I usually go through at least 3 bags every month. Fonio is usually time consuming to make, but La Petite Damba is easy to make in just 5min in the microwave. This fonio always cooks up nice and fluffy as it should be. I mostly use it with an african or thai sauce on top or as a desert mixed with yogurt and light sugar. Thank you the Youla brothers for making this happen.

I bought this Fonio out of curiosity since i started following an alkaline diet from Dr Sebi and this came up in the search. Prime shipping was super fast. This Fonio is a best one I have tried so far. It is already washed and precooked so I can make it as an express meal. A small portion goes a long way since it soaks so much water. The recommended serving was enough to feed 3 people.

This product had a funny smell like it was stale.
