More data on Brazos twisted-oak cane
Amazon lists three twisted-oak crook-neck canes by Brazos with quite different titles and prices. I spent hours trying to figure out how they were different. The answer was to be found only on the Brazos website. Brazos only makes one design of twisted-oak crook-neck cane, but with three different stain colors. So the three different-appearing Brazos crook-neck twisted-oak canes on Amazon are identical except for the color of the stain. I ordered the tan, which was quite a lot cheaper than the other two colors, and which I thought might less show scuffs and scratches, since the underlying oak wood is light colored. It came with a small pamphlet that says you can go to the Brazos website and register your cane and get a free life-time warranty, which I did. In the process, you also get care info. I’m delighted with this cane. It’s beautiful as well as very functional. It’s hefty enough to give a sense of security that it won’t split or shatter when you put your full weight on it. And hefty enough to fend off an out-of-control stray dog if you needed to—especially since, with uniform width/weight throughout the length of the cane, there is some serious weight at the tip, which is not the case with tapered canes. However, the cane feels light enough in using so that the weight seems reassuring and just right rather than too heavy. I already love this cane. There is limited info about the cane itself on either the Amazon or Brazos websites. So here’s the data on mine, which just arrived. Mine is the brown-stained version. Since these are hand-crafted, they can presumably vary somewhat individually.Weight: 555 grams (1.225 pounds = 1 pound 3.6 ounces).Length including ferrule at end: 93.8 cm (37.5 inches). (I’m 5’ 8”, and this seems to be just right for me.)Width of wood: It’s a nearly uniform 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick from end to end except the section with the twists has parts very slightly less thick (about 2.4 cm), and the top area of the hook is flattened for a more comfortable grip, and is 2.0 cm.Width of space inside the crook (ie the widest thing the crook can be hooked over/around): 9.3 cm. (3.72 inches). (This means I can hook it over my wrist or an arm when I need both hands free, but I can’t hook it over my shoulder. However, I think this is the right size of hook; I don’t think I’d want it any bigger.)

Got my new cane for my birthday. I had been using an adjustable came from Walgreens. This cane is much sturdier. I am a tall guy and large, I feel much more secure with this cane. I did find the handle a bit slippery due to the nice finish on the wood but I applied some hockey grip tape to the handle and that solved the problem.

Delighted with this Brazos walking cane!
I bought this cane for my husband when he hurt his knee. He found my Leki walking cane/stick a little frustrating, and we decided that a wood cane might be better for him. This one is beautiful, well made, sturdy and just the right height for my six foot tall spouse. Highly recommended!
