Timeless Style: What to Wear Over 50: Dressing Well for the Rest of Your Life

Not rules so much as inviting you to thoughtful consideration
On first read I thought it was a little lightweight but a second read made me realize how much and how well the topic of looking chic after age 50 was covered. She dismissed some "must-haves" you read everywhere such as 'everyone needs a trench coat.' I found the author to be very realistic about what may look better and feel more comfortable on women of a certain age with bodies of a certain age. Example is perhaps jeggings aren't your best friend when you're 60. It's interspersed with quotes from mature ladies of fashion such as Grace Coddington.I liked it very much and continue to find it valuable.

There is a lot of good information in this book
In reality I rate this a 4-5 star. There is a lot of good information in this book: using tunics because they fall from the shoulders and nicely skim right over the little tire I've developed around my middle; to buy larger sizes in knits to avoid unattractive clinging; re-thinking make-up to reflect skin that is paler as it matures and doing the same with color: maybe black clothing and dark hair dye need to be softened, etc. As an American, I have often reflected on the savvy and sanity with which many European women adapt to their 'more mature' years. Anna did not disappoint me.

Beginner's guide for women age 50+
Unusual book in that the style hints were for women 50+, so there was a lot new to me. The real problem with any book about style is there just isn't enough content for a book. The illustrations were charming and the chapter on style after cancer would be so helpful if needed.

OK but not a lot more than what you get in the fashion magazines. Not very specific.
This was OK with some good tips but for a fairly expensive hardback I would have liked a bit more. There were quite a few general rules of the sort that we already know - eg, "for shoes, a pair of ballet slippers and a good pair of pumps for work" type of thing. Some actual photos of some nice outfits would have helped.

Needs good fashion photography with mature models
Not bad, but I much prefer fashion guides with lots of photos of real women over 50 (or real models in the mature age group). While the content and suggestions are helpful and good, we need more than sketches to show us how to dress.

Be Focused. Look Better Than Ever.
I read this book in conjunction with Paris Chic Look Book. Between the two books they have revolutionized my wardrobe.

Good advice for a well dressed woman
Lots of excellent advice in this book, but it depends on who you are. Personally I liked the advice, but it would not suit everyone.
