The 1-7/8-inch to 1-1/4-inch adapter in this kit enables me to attach the Vacmaster Auto detail kit to the Vacmaster Beast. This is why I bought it and it works great.

As others have noted, the 1 7/8" end of this adapter is the exact same size as the fitting on a 1 7/8" hose or extension wand. They don't fit. Here is a easy way to make the 2 1/2" to 1 7/8" adapter work. Take a pot, put in about 2" of water and bring the water to a boil. Take the adapter and place in the water WITH THE 1 7/8" END FACING DOWN IN THE BOILING WATER. Leave it in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes. As the adapter is hard rubber, the heat softens the rubber which allows you to easily stretch it as you work it over the end of the 1 7/8" hose or extension wand fitting. The result is a perfect fit. Run some cold water on it to cool it and the adapter will retain its stretched shape. The result is a working 2 1/2" to 1 7/8" adapter. You don't need to go get a heat gun or use a blow torch. Hard rubber will easily stretch after it is heated.

I picked up this adapter kit hoping it would easily connect my DeWalt tools (sander, table saw, miter saw) to my shop vac. Unfortunately, it didn’t fit the dust port on any of my DeWalt tools right out of the box. I had to get creative with some electrical tape, wrapping it around the attachments until they were thick enough to create an air-tight fit. The quality of the materials is solid, and it feels durable, but the fitment issue was a major drawback. I was expecting a more straightforward setup, and having to modify the attachments was a bit of a hassle. Once I got everything wrapped and secure, it worked fine, but it’s not the ideal solution I was hoping for. In terms of build quality, the plastic seems decent, but who knows how long they will last. Overall, I’m giving this adapter kit 3 stars. It's a sturdy product and gets the job done, but the poor fitment with DeWalt tools was disappointing. If you're willing to put in a bit of extra effort to make it work, it’s a decent option, but be prepared for some DIY adjustments.

I should have gone with an earlier product review that stated " I bought this for the 2-1/2" to 1-7/8" adapter only,. Did not like having to buy all three pieces but I was hoping to be able to use my floor brush from my old vac which was 2-1/2 on my new vac which is 1-7/8. Well forget that. The larger end of this will exactly match the diameter of any tool that size, meaning it will not slide inside it. The smaller end also exactly matches my 1-7/8 hose, meaning it will not slide inside that either." I had the exact same experience. If you are trying to adapt a wet-dry vacuum with a 1-7/8" hose to a dust port that is 2-1/2" you will be wasting your time buying this. It is not what it claims to be.

I got this small shop vac for mostly vacuuming my car but also other small home projects. It has a 1 7/8" hose unlike most that are 2 1/2". I only needed one of the adapters this package came with to use the accessories I purchased along side the shop vac, the 1 7/8" to 1 1/4" adapter. It fits and works great! I found it also fits my regular house vacuum attachments if I ever wanted to use those as well. The extra adapters in this package I gave to my brother-in-law as he has a shop vac with the larger hose. This was the best value I could find for the one adapter I needed so if you have this shop vac it fits.

Like many people, I only needed one item in the set, but both the size adapters are useful for adapting common vacuum hose sizes. The two adapters work well in series to adapt from 2-1/2" down to 1-1/4". The nominal sizes are: 2-1/2" female × 1-7/8" male 1-7/8" female × 1-1/4" male 2-1/2" female × 2-1/2" female ...meaning they accept the opposite gender fittings. The size adapters only adapt from a larger vacuum source to a smaller attachment. The 1-7/8" × 1-1/4" fitting is made of soft plastic/hard rubber. The other two are plastic. All appear to be cleanly-molded high quality material and fit everything I own quite well. All fittings taper from the ends, so consider that if using the measurements in the pictures. Actual measured sizes are approximately 1/4" smaller than nominal. This would be a perfect set for most people for a couple dollars less without the coupler.

Did not fit my sander. Quality is to be expected for the price.
