I'll be honest. I bought this without actually reading any reviews, because I found the title so intriguing. I just couldn't hold myself back.The book did not disappoint us one bit. Mr Gaskitt and his family are amusing as well as endearing, and their crazy adventures don't fail to delight the little ones. Mine wanted to finish the book in one sitting.The illustrations add to the comic appeal of the book.This is just the right book for early readers who have started chapter books.Could be a nice book to read on Christmas as well! Oops... I hope I haven't given the plot away ;)

One of a series of 4 books about 'The Gaskitts', this is a great book for newly confident readers who are looking to move on to chapter books. All the books in this series have short chapters, lots of engaging pictures and humorous stories so ideal for keeping the interest of budding readers. My children aged 5 and 7 happily read this book over and over again laughing like drains at the scrapes that take place before a satisfactory ending.

This book was my son's second Gaskitt book, and was very helpful on a long car trip. Another chapter book with a sense of humor, it again fits the bill for kids looking for a cross between a picture book and a chapter book which doesn't preach! My 6 year old son was pleased when he understood the jokes, like the radio which greets Mr. Gaskitt personally, but always gets the news a little bit wrong, and the refrigerator that writes messages to the family.
