Hair Awaken Therapeutic Shampoo, 2 Fl. Oz (Pack of 1)

Background: I've had plaque psoriasis for years. Years of extreme itchiness, large dandruff flakes and plaque buildup around the hairline, and waking up several times each night to violently scratch my head. I primarily used the MG217 coal tar shampoo, which works well enough but smells horrible and leaves the hair feeling very dry.I recently switched to the Surface healthy scalp shampoo (only the shampoo, not the whole 3-step system Surface recommends). I was very skeptical, as the claims all read like woo-woo pseudoscience. HOWEVER, I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and have been very pleased with the results.It has been a gradual but noticeable improvement. My scalp is significantly less itchy than it has been in months, the plaque buildup is nearly gone, and I only notice flakes when using a fine-tooth comb with a decent amount of pressure on the scalp. I expect the improvement to continue, but time will tell. The shampoo also smells great (very "fresh" smelling; not perfumey at all) and doesn't leave the hair feeling dried-out like my previous shampoo.Very little shampoo is needed to get a good lather going, so don't be too put off by the price; you'll get a lot of use out of a single bottle. I will update this review somewhere down the line if I find that the shampoo stops working for my condition. For the time being, I recommend. Check the ingredients list to ensure you won't have an allergic reaction like some people seem to have had.

I have started loosing my hair at an incredibly fast rate after recovering from Covid 19. So it's been 5 months since I got sick with it. About a month and a half after getting sick, my hair started falling out a lot. I wasn't surprised; all my friends who went through Covid had that problem. So at my hair appointment I shared that concern with my hairstylist, and she recommended this product. She said it's so awesome, she can't keep it on the shelf. I've been using it for almost 3 months now, and to be honest with you, I don't see that much of a difference. My hair is still falling out, but not as much. I also don't see this shampoo doing anything for my existing hair. It doesn't help with volume or shine or smoothness. I honestly don't know if it's working towards preventing hair loss and increasing volume. Maybe I would still be loosing a ton of hair if I wasn't using it, but my friends tell me the hair loss tempers off after about 2 months after it starts anyway. I would imagine I would be able to see the difference after 3 months....but maybe I need to give it a year since hair doesn't grow that fast, and once your pony tail feels a lot thinner, it takes time for new hair to grow.

My hairdresser uses this product on my hair but I cannot afford the salon price. This one does well even if the formula is not quite the same.

I use several different “clean” shampoos with no harsh chemicals, but this is my favorite. I have fine straight hair and some shampoos leave my hair feeling dull and heavy. This controls my hair leaving it easier to style.

Scalp felt tingly clean which I liked, but my hair fell out excessively after each use. Had to stop using. Do not recommend for everyone.
