Fender ShawBucker 1 - Humbucking Electric Guitar Pickup - Zebra

Bought this pickup and didn't get a chance to install it for a few weeks afterwards. It had arrived without the outer cardboard package and the plastic case was cracked open on both sides but I just assumed that was from shipping since it came in an unpadded envelope. Took it out and it looked okay, but the wires had all been soldered before. I should have stopped there and returned it, but I spent a week researching, soldering and unsoldering and trying to figure out why it wasn't working before getting fed up enough to just start a return/exchange. Glad I did as the new one came with all of the factory packaging and was new rather than used. The replacement went in easily and worked as expected. As for the pickup itself, I installed it in a mexiacan HSS strat from around 2004 and it's a definite improvement in tone over the stock humbucker with ceramic magnets. The tone is a bit darker and far less cutting and it seems to take pedals well. Haven't played it enough at this point to comment much beyond that, but I'm happy with the purchase.

Great pickup! I received a Shawbucker 2 instead of the 1. Great bridge for tex Mex set.

I bought a this Fender pickup to replace my Shawbucker in my American Pro Strat due to half of the original pickup not working. The new pickup has a low output which works well with my style and blends nicely with single coil pickups. However, I had to reverse the hot wire as the pickup was out of phase in position 2.
