I was intending to steam pudding for Christmas but the pot was not large enough, there is no lid.Looking at the picture I thought the pot was much larger.

Wanted a decent full sized soup pot but not too big. Designed not to boil over was a feature i now cannot live without! Purchased the separate medium lid which is universal to other pieces I purchased from same brand. One lid in the lid drawer serves multiple purposes!

This is an excellent 8-quart stockpot, but I would really have wanted a lid to go with it (not sold separately). I recently needed to replace an 8-quart stockpot made of anodized aluminum that had become to scratched up that it became unusable. I was looking for a stainless steel stockpot and was lucky enough to run across this one through the Vine program. At first I almost passed over it because of the matte black finish that I thought might turn out to be high-maintenance. But in reading through the product description, it seemed perfect for my needs and I really liked the shape of the pot and the reduced risk of having the contents boil over. The only downside was having to purchase the lid separately (there are three sizes of these more or less universal lids, and apparently both the medium and large will work with this stockpot). I guess I am in the minority, but I like having a dedicated lid for each of my pots and pans (they live in the rack of my giant turkey roaster that only gets used once or twice a year). This stockpot is a great size and because of the design, it doesn't looks as large as it really is. It is quite heavy and the base and sides are thick and durable. The stainless steel interior looks gorgeous. I ordered the lid, and waited patiently for it to show up before trying it out for review, but it has been a few weeks and still has not arrived. I'm not too happy about this as the pot is pretty much useless to me without a lid. None of my existing lids (and I have a lot of them) fits perfectly. I finally went ahead and used it several times with a loose-fitting lid just to try it out so I would have something to report. It works great for pasta, soups and stews and it does indeed do a good job of preventing boil-overs. The matte black finish is holding up well so far. I hand wash all of my pots and pans and this still looks brand new. The current price of $76.47 seems a bit too high when I consider that the separate matching large lid (which is also intended to fit other pieces in this collection) increases the cost by another $23.04.
