Perfect tool for the price, but requires some pressure
This tool will, in fact, punch down and cut off the end of wires, it just requires a little extra effort; I found that if I punched down the wire, then rocked the tool forward to the cutting blade, the end of the wire would pop right off. It's nowhere near as easy to use as a spring-loaded punchdown tool that sends the excess wire flying, but it is pretty simple. I usually borrow my dad's nice spring-loaded tool, but I needed one quickly for a home networking project, and this came in the mail two days after ordering. I punched down 5 Cat5 jacks in about 3 minutes.I expect the tool will last another two or three jobs, but you get what you pay for; if you're punching down tens or hundreds of cables, and don't want to get RSI, this is not the tool for you. If you are wiring up one small network or phone punchblock, this is your tool.

Gets the job done
Need to rock the tool toward the outside of the keystone for the blad to bite the excess wire. Then easily break off. Good price for simple tool if you're just doing a couple keystones.

No BS punchdown tool.
I prefer quality and reliable tools over fancy ones with unnecessary features. This punchdown tool will not only last you forever, but will be more reliable than the data passing through the connector you are terminating. Sure it doesn’t have the spring and you may have to push harder, but your pin outs will be correct every time, and you’ll build some muscle ;)Tip: keep the plastic cover that goes over the blade when you first open it. You can reuse it to help preserve the sharpness.

Highly recommended.
Makes connecting network cable leads to jacks SO much simpler. It connects the wires to the contacts of the jack and also trims the cable in one operation. It beats the heck out of using a tiny screwdriver and wire cutters. The tool's handle is ergonomic and so long as you're punching down on the wires and contacts on a semi-solid surface, you should have no problem connecting and trimming the leads with a minimum of fuss or discomfort.Even though the price wasn't free, it was certainly worth every penny to make the intricate part of my home-networking project so much simpler. Highly recommended.

Really not bad..
I like its smaller compact size, no springs/recoil involved. Is such a great tool, I'm now obligated to do all low voltage oulets on the jobs, Lol
