Cost me £700 for a made to measure rail at my front steps. This does as good a job for a lot less and was easy to fit

The handrail is very sturdy and looks nice. The ease of installation will depend upon your situation. I installed it at my 80+ year old in-law's house. They have one step from the garage to the house. I expected a stud beside their door, but there was not one. I did a little compromise and ended up with a trip to the hardware store for a longer lag bolt and got it installed. Once installed if is very sturdy and will be a big help for them in getting in and out of the house.

Overall, this was a good purchase. It is sturdy, easy to install, and it isn't ugly. The only real negative is aesthetic. It is a black rail. The bolts used to attach it to the house are silver. The ends of the bolts are conspicuous, and not that attractive. Once it is warm enough, we plan to paint them, but it would have been nice if the heads of the bolts matched the rail itself to begin with.

This old house was built in 1929, when I guess folks just scampered up and down the VERY TALL concrete stairs in the back - with nothing to hold on to. This is a charming vintage cottage by the sea, but the back way out was dangerous and scary. Bought this hand rail, and today my carpenter came by on his lunch hour and installed it - zip zip. Done in 20 minutes. SO sturdy- SO secure. Thanks!
