Very good, smooth-writing pen! I love JInhaos!
I own 7 or 8 of these Jinhao x450 fountain pens, so obviously I like them! They are some of the heaviest pens I own, coming in at 43.5 grams. They sport a Lamy Safari-like triangular grip, which I like. However, this type of grip isn't for everyone. This pen takes a #6 nib, so it can be easily replaced with any #6 nib, like those sold by the Goulet Pen Co. or elsewhere. The nib produces a very a wet-writing broad line. Some may call it a medium nib; I find it to write quite broadly. Every single Jinhao x450 that I own came with a very smooth nib, which is not true of many of my other pens made by other companies. The nib and feed are friction-fit into the section, which make for easy removal for cleaning or changing out the nib for another. One thing I like about this nib is that I can get a decent amount of line variation in my writing, which is cool. It's a bit springy, especially for a steel nib. The pen comes with a converter only, no ink cartridges. You can buy standard international cartridges for this pen, but why bother when bottled ink is so reasonably priced and offers many, many more color and brand options? So, since this pen comes with no ink, be sure to have bottled ink or cartridges on hand when you order this pen. This is true with every Jinhao pen I've ever received. They come with ink converters only. This is fine by me, though, because most other fountain pen manufacturers sell the converters separately. The only ding I'll give this pen pertains to the cap. It is a snap cap that requires quite a bit of force to uncap. Each time I uncap it, this force draws out a bit of ink from the nib, spraying into the cap. If I then post the cap onto the pen, I find ink on the barrel of the pen and then my hands. So, I no longer post the cap. Plus, if this pen is posted it becomes unbalanced and back heavy, making it difficult to write for longer than a few sentences. I often clean the inside of the cap with a Q-tip, solving the problem of ink spraying into the cap. Due to this issue, my x450s are often used only at home rather than out and about, as I don't often carry Q-tips with me. All in all, I really like my x450s. They are well-made and very sturdy pens. Unposted, I can write all day with these pens. They are comfy to hold and perform well. In general, I find that Jinhaos are high value pens. I find them worth more than I what I spend for them. Whether it's a Jinhao x450, 250, x750, 601, or any of the many, many other models JInhao produces, I have never once regretted buying them. They are solid workhorse pens and look great, too. I cannot recommend Jinhaos highly enough!

Nice pen, put down a lot of ink
I used to use a fountain pen decades ago in high school. Just got back into them, and discovered the Jin Hao line. Got this one after getting an orange x159 (because the color matches my first vehicle (LOL).One thing I noticed with both is that they are pretty wet pens...they put down a lot of ink. As a leftie, this can create some smearing issues if I'm not careful, but more importantly is the amount of ink readily bleeds through the paper of standard notebooks and journals.I replaced the nib on the x450 with a fine nib from Goulet, and it writes a lot nicer. The weight of that pen compared to the Lamy Safari and Pilot Metropolitan makes it nice to write with. The 159, is a big pen, but nice to write with. The x450 posts OK...MUCH better than the x159 (which doesn't post well at all...the slightest nudge or bump causes the cap to come off the body. I've stopped even trying to post the cap anymore). You can't beat the value, esp if you like a wet pen with an indeterminate nib size (medium?? because it doesn't say). For another $10-$15, put a replacement fine nib, and you'll have a decent pen for not a lot of money.

Excellent pen
Excellent pen (and I have many of them), regardless of price . Brass (probably) barrel gives good weight, snap on (non-posting) cap closes securely, fitted non-slip grip section, (a little narrow for my hand) and firm clip. iLays down a smooth, wet line, Very nice enamel finish, too.

Amazing cost benefit
The pen is fantastic, very comfortable, and feels very solid. I'm still a novice to fountain pen, but it feels pretty good on my hand. The only thing that let me down was that the color is an opaque blue, and I was expecting a more greenish color, which is what the picture shows

Astonishingly good
This has become one of my favorite pens. Although not as prestigious as a Montblanc....and honestly it isn't a fair comparison, but this pen does what it does very well. If you had to use this blindfolded you'd easily think this is a much spendier pen. Feedback is solid with smooth flow. Bit of a wet writer, but that is the only drawback. This is a bigger pen and for those of you looking for a solid pen without breaking your wallet you need to seriously consider this pen.

Writes very well
I have not owned a fountain pen for at least 30 years. I watched a couple of youtube videos about good quality inexpensive pens, and decided to try the Jinhao. I love the blue pattern of the barrel. I chose to use Jinhao brand standard blue ink cartridges to start off my writing experience. I rinsed the pen with a mild dish soap solution before putting in my first ink cartridge, because i saw droplets of oil inside. After rinsing well and letting dry overnight, I put my first cartridge in. I had to push much harder than I expected, and was afraid I would spray ink all over myself, but I had no mishaps. I wrote several sentences every day for a week, and the ink was very pale. However, today I used it and the ink came through nice and dark blue. I guess there was water inside. I like having blue ink in a blue pen.The pen writes very smoothly, and the ink lays down nicely. I am left handed, and I hold my pens and pencils over the top edge of the paper, to try to avoid smudging. This ink dries quickly enough that I have not gotten any ink on my hands. The nib does not drag or catch the paper even though I am using it "upside down". I also have not detected any leaks, as my fingers have stayed clean.Like most people these days, I don't have much writing to do in my daily life. I do enjoy writing with this pen, and I feel it was great value for the money, since I'm mainly just using it for fun.
