Ballroom Dancing and Life
I really enjoyed this short play- there's so much packed into so little. Keep in mind this was a text taught to my students, so I'm definitely reviewing it from the perspective of an English teacher:Positives:- Themes aplenty- race, father figures, intellect, age, art...- And the symbolism- kites, ballroom dancing, comic books...- Characters- so well-developed for a play that spans the course of just one afternoon- The dialogue is so rich and powerful- the climax of the play is incredibly moving and insanely well-written- Much can be done with historical and social contextDefinitely a good read- would be a great airplane read- short, but deep (unless you're sitting next to a noisy child or a loud snorer).

A must read, and if possible, see.
This is my favorite play. The characters are rich and the story is insightful. I have now both read and seen this play and it has been touching both times. The consequences of a younger boy having an amount of power that he doesn't know how to fully control in a world which he is only just starting to comprehend and the way that his actions effect those around him is startling and moving at once.

Great Play!
I got this play for my Theater class. I loved it, it focuses on a scene of a young white boy and his black friends/servants. It takes place in South Africa 1950. Theme being racism, it shows a key example of how quickly one can turn. This was an excellent play, empathizing with either 1 or all 3 of the characters. It's short and a great read, I highly suggest this book.

profound critique of socio-economic world
great play written brilliantly. Very important terms of the current socioeconomic situation in the world. It's a great tool for educational use. The play is easy to read but is very profound and complex at the same time.

Good condition and quick arrival!
I loved this product. There was a slight amount of damage, a bit more than indicated in the description, but overall I received the book quickly and in good condition. This product is a fine investment.

Excellent Play
The play is a classic exploration of a young white boy's coming of age in the early years of apartheid and the racial tensions which destroy his relationship with hos boyhood hero!

Joy in disguise
I loved the way Willie and Sam manages to find times to be happy even in the unhappy racial stance at Master Harold's house. Yet the reader will find the core roots of the Apartheid as was and probably, still is in South Africa. Just because one calls himself white and the other is Black . Yet the change in the attitude of Hally to suit that of his racist father raises more controversy of any brighter tomorrow
