Found it at five below for five dollars (paperback) so I was really sad I spent $15 on it however it is an AMAZINGGG book. The way it’s written is very engaging and very natural to read. It contains a lot of information and it is very organized. I am 16 and I bought this book because I wanted to understand politics. I find it very important to understand our government and politics. This book, although I’m not completely finished, is helping me with that. I got really tired of watching YouTube videos on government because I felt like I was never going to learn it completely because I just don’t know how much there is to learn (which makes it impossible to find videos because I can’t specify what I want to know). I love that I got this book because it is an organized way of learning. I recommend this book because it’s definitely useful information that is worth knowing if you live in America. and, in any country, it is very important to know how your government works. I 100% recommend this book. Not only is it a great book but is also budget friendly (if you get the paperback version somewhere else). But still, $15 for this book was defiantly worth it.

This was book provided a good overview of the political system. However, I would suggest a review of pronouns. The president is quite often referred to as “he”. The president is not required to be male and my daughter is actually the one who noticed this and questioned it.

It came on time which is always a plus. It's just what it claims to be - an easy to understand look at our American Govt. from the very beginning. I think I forgot more than I knew. LOL

Book is pretty good but written in reverse. Gives ya a very zoomed in close up look first without setting the stage. I would start in the middle aka the second half, around page 127, then after that go back to page 1 and read how it all happened.

It's a great source for people who don't have of time but need to review. I didn't notice any bias, and it is more about the basic function.

Was surprised how little (size wise) book is...print is small, like the book but the information is easy to understand which is why I purchased

This is an extremely useful primer to give you quick understanding of the intricacies of American politics. Well written and laid out tells you what you need to know

This is exactly what I needed. The book gives you the essence of each branch of government (executive, legislative, and judiciary). The electoral process is explained, even the all-confusing electoral college and how it works. The influence of lobby groups on political candidates is also explained. The different levels of government are also explained, right down to the city level. The constitution is also explained. The book even goes into the different types of courts. It goes into the different branches of government with a sufficient analysis of the office of President and other positions, including government agencies and who they report to. An excellent, wide-ranging introduction to the American pollical system!

My Canadian husband wanted to better understand the USA government system during the recent election, so I bought him this book. He said this book was perfect as it broke down things in very simple terms and gave good general knowledge as well as history of the system. He recommends this book if you want the basics and a quick read.
