Bisto makes the very best instant gravy mix. Just add boiling water and stir quickly until smooth and thicker. Once you try it, you will never buy other instant gravy again. I always have a spare one in my pantry.

This was one of our staples growing up in England. Meat drippings and the water that the vegetables were cooked in were added to make a delicious gravy. I’ve made it a number of times recently and just added the cooked vegetable water but something was missing. Maybe the meat juices make a lot of difference to the taste. Perhaps adding a beef cube will do it. I don’t eat red meat so the juices are not available.

We love this stuff and repurchase it forevermore. Great for adding to our broth drippings from the stew we made in the crockpot. Cook meat, remove meat, add bisto to the drippings and then return the meat to the crock pot. That's how we do most weekday meals.
