Recommend highly for regular travelers and rough service applications.
So far, it's great. Only had it on for about a week but it has proven to be well made and durable thus far. I used to use less expensive (and less durable) Speck clam shells and wanted something more substantial because I travel a good bit. This product obviously provides that and more superior protection with a negligible weight difference. I am really liking the snap closure and the fact that my MacBook Pro stays closed in my backpack and other places that I store and transport. I often slide the MacBook in my backpack or tool crate with other devices, tools and miscellaneous everyday cary items which has resulted in a scratched screen on an older MacBook. No more worries there....There is a small design issue with the case that is easily fixed. I had to modify the case with a Dremel tool on arrival to accommodate standard USB-C plugs on the right front port. Be prepared to do the same on both sides if you use anything larger than a vanilla USB-C cord from Apple. The mod is easy and painless if you have the tools and take your time. I used a 1/8 straight burr on low speed to carefully extend the existing cut out to the marks I made with a fine point Sharpie. I used a small grinding stone to smooth the rough edges. Honestly, it took more time to gather tools than to make the changes. 10 minutes tops. Please note that I had to remove the case (twice) to make the modifications. Disregard any reports of breaking your screen removing the case ***IF*** you take the time to view the documentation and videos on the UAG website. The only way you can break your screen is to NOT watch the videos and just blindly (and stupidly) try to "hulk it off". Removal requires finesse, not strength.I have not and will not intentionally drop test it but will update as necessary if that ever happens. :)As I'm sure some of you are, I was very tentative about this purchase considering the price point. Overall, I'm very happy and find this to be a premium case that provides premium protection worthy of the premium price. $80 to protect a $2k device like this is a small price to pay.

I wish I would have found this case first.
I wish I had known about this case before I went through at least half a dozen cases looking for the perfect one. I've tried several shells from various manufacturers and different sleeves. While the other shells on the market work for what they do, the problem with them is they don't lock. I am unable to just throw it in my backpack and go as the laptop can open and close which could cause damage. I then tried sleeves which does the trick when I'm just transporting the computer but the second it's out of the sleeve, I have to keep track of it and it doesn't protect the machine. This wonderfully designed case/shell does both! It protects the machine while I'm using it and then I can close it and just throw it in my bag. It does add some weight and some size to the machine but not so much that it is uncomfortable. I've had multiple cases that added so much bulk that I had to take it off as I couldn't deal with the added bulk (ie i-Blason and incase). It isn't perfect, but if I had to nit pick I would say the thing is not pretty. It's very utilitarian and not as sleek or streamlined as my MacBook Pro. The other complaint I have is that it is a SNUG fit. This is a double edged sword as I appreciate how tight it fits when I'm using it but taking it off requires finesse and patience. Overall, I am extremely satisfied and would recommend this to anyone looking to protect their machine.

Maybe not super attractive, but very durable.
Very pleased with this case. The last MacBook Pro I had (Mid-2012) I also picked up at the Apple store, and was suckered into buying one of those Speck cases. Yes, they look nice, but for me personally, it offered little if any protection from drops, spills, and just generally being tossed about by a fairly active college student.Enter the UAG case - I cringed at the price, but then I thought about it realistically - I just dropped mad loot on a new MBP, and although Apple Care is very handy, perhaps I can avoid using it by just spending a little more and getting a nice case. I've had it for a few months now and I am really very pleased that I decided to buy it. I don't particularly care for the overall 'look' of the case, but that's just my personal taste. I feel like I'm getting ready to do IT work for the military in some far off mountain range or something. But for the protection it has offered me, that's something I can definitely get over. For reference, my MacBook Pro is the 13" 4th Generation (Mid-2016) - non Touch Bar w/ 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports and 1 headphone jack, 8gb RAM and 256 SSD. I'm not at all sure that this would fit the version with the Touch Bar, so double-checking the one you want to order is definitely suggested.

Very strong but very hard to remove
I once dropped this off my desk onto the floor (while it was open), and I was convinced I just broke the screen on my mac. I picked it up and checked it out, neither the macbook nor the case had taken any damage. So the case is strong, I also like how it clicks close— making sure the mac stays closed. It also has a grip, pretty smart features of this product. One major critique I have of this product is how it attaches to the mac. Removing this case is terrible! The clamps that attach to the mac are near impossible to undo. I literally had to BREAK OFF one of the clamps just so I could slide the macbook out easier. And any product that has to be broken in order to function correctly, isn’t a very good product. I was always afraid the screen would split whenever I would remove the case. BE VERY CAREFUL when removing the case and putting it on.Overall, given this case can be 2-3 times the price of other cases, the price can be justified by its smart features and well placed rubber on the corners and around the screen. If you want durability, this is a good product. But maybe it’s too durable in that in is damn near impossible to remove. So please be careful.
