Chinese Calligraphy Dictionary (Chinese Edition)

Good compromise. Should be adequate for most.
Only drawback is the size. More words would have been nice to have. When searching, I often find the word I am seeking is not included. Still, this is a good dictionary for the words that are included. The book shows examples from the earliest recognizable instances, such as Zhou or Han dynasties. I was more interested in Jiaguwen, but couldn't afford such a specialist dictionary. This one, for the price and size is a decent compromise.

Strongly recommended
Excellent. 1578 pages. A comprehensive set of individual character examples. No long text passages. Characters are arranged alphabetically by pinyin. A character stroke index is also provided in the front of the book. Includes a wide variety of character calligraphic styles. Each example comes with a note as to the source of that example. No English in this book.

Super version of the book my art instructor brought from China many years ago. I like that it is in Pinyin order, making it easy to find characters.
