The reviews don't do it justice.
It's BIG and sounds right fine in my Crackerjack Box house. Listen to Black Sabbath.

defective
do not buy this piece of equipment. The one sent us was defective and we were told we could return it and pay for return. Return cost was 4 times what we paid to have it shipped to us. So now we have a very expensive defective piece and are just out our money. Always buy something that return is explained more fully. We feel truly ripped off.

Not as powerful as you’d be led to believe
Unimpressive compared to my old 618sNot much drive until it’s turned up, then there’s a rattle/overdrive noise from the woofer. For the money you’d expect it to bang- it really just doesn’t!

If You Know Something about Crossover and EQ, You are Good To Go
Update - After 8 months of ownership and 12 shows:Absolutely no buyer’s remorse at all. In fact, having two of these for most events is too much! We reduced to using 1 sub for most shows and it does very well indoors and outdoors. To get a uniform bass response that is sweet, I go with a 120hz crossover and an eq boost at 50hz with a medium Q. Not too much of a boost though. You will notice with this sub and the 15” PRX915XLF, there is a valley at 50hz (noticeable from 45 to 55hz). So, I simply gave it a little boost using the JBL connect app to configure the built-in dbx eq. My search for an excellent subwoofer for our band is over. I bought 2, but I can truthfully get by with one placed on one side of the stage. If I use both, I need to turn them down significantly. Limiter never comes on for me.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Just got these. Here are some things I have heard about these:1. "The Limiter Light Stays on!"Yes indeed it will. Unless you get familiar with the on-board DSP after updating the firmware.2. "It is not as punchy as I would like"Yes, indeed it isn't. Unless you get familiar with EQ/crossover to capture transients.3. "It only goes so loud"Yes, indeed it does. Unless you know your application, whether your event needs one or two subs. Are you a DJ for a large event? Using one sub? Don't do that. You need 2 or a smaller event.I have a DriveRack PA2, SRX725's, and a Crown XLi 2500 combined with these. The system sounds great. I leave the eq flat inside of the subs and I have them set to Volume at -14 as a group. The SRXs are set to Passive Crossover and the DriveRack takes care of the rest. I have combined passive speakers (SRX725's) with these active subs. The result is a very loud, balanced sound. Is there enough bass? Yes, it shook the pictures in the background of the photo off the wall. Limiter never comes on, bass is punchy, and there remains room for these subs to go louder if I want. The key is using the speakers the way they were created to run. Also, be sure to update the firmware before you do anything. If you are experienced with sound, these are a good fit. If you are a novice and want something that you can simply plug in and play, this may be a little frustrating. As for me, I love these. I got them brand new from another dealer. Looking for good bass that is thick and punchy? I would recommend these. If I had the money, would I go with the QSC's for $700 more per sub? Sure would. If you are looking to save $1400 per pair and still want an excellent pair of subs, this is the way to go.

Customer service nonexistent
I bought a JBL sub that was meant to last a lifetime. Despite careful usage it failed in a few years. JBL callously told me it was useless and unrepairable. If you want to spend this much on a subwoofer, do it with a company that will not tell you tough luck.
