This compass truly surprised me. I needed a decent lensatic compass and this one was mid price range, but had the elements I needed. That being said, I felt I took a gamble given the price was lower than expected. Paid off nicely.This is a solid, heavy compass with more features than the typical military version. It is a well put together item with a good feel to it. I've checked it out with a couple of other instruments and it is spot on. I like the angle features and the look through aspect. Both are nice.For the price, this is an excellent purchase.

Received it on time, well-packaged, and exactly as represented. Have examined it and find it to be well made and in perfect condition. Have not yet had the opportunity to put it through its paces but it is ready to go. As others have noted, the luminescent dial does not stay bright for very long...I knew this going in and no reason to take off for that. My strategy is to open it and park it under a table lamp, so that it will be ready to go when I am.

Pretty heavy duty compass and I do mean heavy..Its really heavy. I wouldn't be worried if I drop this down a hill or on some rocks. I bought this for my son who does a lot of hiking in the Cascades. It's the reason I bought the one with the climbometer. Thats the reason for 4 stars instead of 5..That was the only cheap part on this thing..seems to be cheap tin..It wont stay upright and the level arm sticks..pretty sure if you dropped it open that that piece would bend or break. So instead sending it to my son I kept it for myself and removed the cheap part

Very nice -- it has everything -- is tough, rugged, and durable. My only complaint is that it is way too heavy for backpack trips. Even for day hiking trips, it is a lot of extra weight to carry. Happy Trails.

Just received this compass today and i am blown away. At this price ($17) i was expecting a much worse product. This thing is heavy, sturdy, smooth, doesn't rattle or feel cheap, and all the moving parts feel very solid. It will be a while before i can use it and abuse it, but based on initial unboxing i expect this to stick around for a long time.

Looks super!!. Heavy duty, came with a case. I mean we will see how it does on my annual training and my night walks. Great for a gift as well. The looks on this thing it's super nice. Product well made. and for the price, not too shabby :) I don't know how will do if you drop it in the concrete by accident . Make sure is always in the case.

I wasn't expecting this item to be such high quality. I really like the weight of it, and it seems tobe very durable. My only issue, would be that the snap doesn't seem to be to strong. Plenty of easy ways to fix that, with a safety pin. Overall I would recommend this item.
