Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

I bought this for my 8 year old son who loves the Harry Potter stories. Having listened to the stories on cds and got to book 5 with me reading them to him, he decided that he wanted to read the first book himself, but found the tiny print hard going. This book was the answer for him. He reads it at school and often, when we go out, he even choses to take this book rather than his DS, which can't be a bad thing! Well worth the money.

The book that introduced us all to the wonders that is Harry Potter. It's a wonderful story that just absorbs you into a world that we could only dream of being a part of. The enchanted version ibooks has is simply stunning and a definite for any collector. The images are gorgeous and really let you become a part of the story.The first story is slower than the others but it's the first book in a long series, we kind of expect that, don't we? Harry and the gang are truly a lovable clang - I love Ron the most and it's not just because we share a birthday. I also find myself loving the dynamics of the character that is Draco Malfoy. He will be a character I know I will grow to love beyond words. I am interested to see who I become more connected too... despite any birthday connections or house connections (considering I am a Slytherin)All in all, a joyous book. One I cannot wait to share with the kids in my life and for generations to come

Almost pointless for me to even review this book with the 4,000+ reviews so far but since it is my favourite series I feel I must.I think the thing that is so great about this series is that even though it is a VERY easy read, there is such an amazing description of this other world that you can actually get lost in it. It is so unlike our ordinary lives but the characters are so easily relatable that you can actually believe this world could be real.This book I think saved my life. I read it at a time when I was so depressed and had almost given up completely. I picked up The Sorcerer's Stone on sale to see what the hype was about. I couldn't put it down. There were five books out at the time and so bought the other four right away. And now every time I start to feel a little down I read Harry Potter and it picks me right up and takes me away from my own problems. I have since recruited 3 Potter fans. It's a shame the series ended and I hope J.K. is working on something else that is equally amazing.
