What size 5v power supply to use? how many watts or amps? if i use a 20w power supply, can i use up to 4 hard drives @4.5w ea? (900ma per port)?

Generally these are plugged into a Female USB devise port. Lap top, work station, smart TV, etc....

When this hub is powered externally will it backfeed current upstream? Hopefully not.

It does not backfeed, at least not in my case, I'm not sure if it may depend on other variables, but it worked normally in my case.

Does the usb hub turn off the 5v power to the ports if the hub is disconnected from the pc but still plugged into 5v in power?
