Great camera with a bad battery.
I bought this lightly used for $84. The battery was bad and would not hold a charge. I bought three batteries and a charger. These seem to hold a charge forever.I can operate the camera with my phone or by hand. The big thing is that it has a 53x optical zoom. Great, clear pictures. It also has a 4x digital zoom. I turned that off.It is a great camera at a great price, especially used.

Updated....Worked very well until it didn't
***Update - I am currently in Ireland and the camera is not working. The screen is not showing anything other than the menu options. If I try to take a photo, it's completely black. Tried different setting, removing the battery and memory card, and even did thefactory reset. Nothing. So it is useless 6 months after purchasing it.***Bought this specifically for a trip to Africa and it worked very well. I made sure I had extra batteries with me and was able to take >2800 photos using a 16GB chip. My only complaint was that the screen is very hard to see in sunny situations. It would have been nice to have an actual viewfinder on those days. Zoom was incredible for not having to lug around a big lens! The two lion photos give you a good idea of how close you can get. Even the detail on Mt Kenya was amazing.

Great camera, bad battery
I purchased this camera for an upcoming safari in South Africa this September. I charged the battery for the full 4 hours and was excited to test it out. I think I got 5 pictures before it died, and the lens was stuck in the outward position. I plugged it back in and it began charging again, and I was able to turn it off while powered by the USB.I charged it again overnight, and tried again the next morning. This time it wouldn't power up enough to even try to get a single photo. After reading others reviews, I got a 3-pack of Kastar LB060 batteries with the charger for $22 and couldn't be happier. It takes excellent pictures, the zoom seems almost endless, and I'm very impressed overall. I've only used the auto mode since I'm not camera savvy, but there are a lot of options for someone with a better understanding.I was planning to get at least one extra battery anyway, so that wasn't a deal breaker for me, but it's enough of an annoyance I can't give 5 stars. I would recommend the camera, just order batteries just in case.

Slow lens, unable to autofocus with optical zoom.
This is a decent point-and-shoot digital camera. It is entirely useless as a "super zoom." When zoomed in anywhere near the range of the optical zoom, the autofocus does not really work, giving blurry images that make it difficult to figure out what is in the frame. In addition, the lens is so slow at near max zoom that the camera will ask you to turn on the flash - in bright daylight! Fine for photographing anything in the same room as you are, but for distant objects or scenes just forget about it.

No Wifi, can't use outside due to glare or love visibility on the screen
I'm giving it 3 stars because I do like the quality of photos but the wifi connectivity is non existent despite the claims, this is not same company or level of product as it's name sake and I find it near impossible to use outside due to glare on the screen so I end up taking photos of the garden blind and then retreating inside to see if they are acceptable. I also have a lot of issues w/ the macro function - it claims to have it but it takes so much finagling to use it in a non-studio setting is not really a promotable function in my opinion. So, I use it solely for product shots and then have to hard connect the phone to my computer to retrieve the photos. I thought about returning it when purchased and probably should have but as noted above, I do feel it takes better pictures than my iphone for my art shop, which was the priority at the time of purchase, so i've made peace w/ the limited functionality. However, I would NOT recommend as a vacation camera or lifestyle camera.
